The long anticipated decision is now official. Miles Byrd is headed back to San Diego State for one more season, he announced on Instagram.
“I’m returning to graduate, get stronger, fine-tune my game, and win a national championship,” Byrd told Jacob Meyers.
Byrd showcased his elite defensive abilities at the NBA Draft Combine and even performed well offensively. Byrd certainly made a name for himself during his two-week stay in Chicago. If NBA teams didn’t know who Byrd was before the combine, they certainly do now.

Here is a look at Byrd’s numbers during the combine and how he performed during drills.
The incoming junior will be in a better position to be drafted next season. He’ll gain more experience and will be getting more national attention with the Aztecs.
According to head coach Brian Dutcher, the star guard met with the Charlotte Hornets on Tuesday. One before the 9 pm deadline to commit to going pro or declaring you’ll return to college.

Dutcher is thrilled to have his star guard back. With the addition of Reese Waters back from injury, the Aztecs will be loaded with talent, and the chemistry the team has created already is going to make them a dangerous one.
An early look at the starting five.
Sean Newman Jr.
Miles Byrd
Reese Waters
Magoon Gwath
Miles Heide
The next men up:
BJ Davis
Latrell Davis
Jeremiah Oden
Pharaoh Compton
Taj DeGourville
ThokBor Majak
This team is deep. The Aztecs will be very fun to watch this next season in their final year of the Mountain West before moving to the Pac-12.
With both Byrd and Gwath returning, SDSU will likely be a ranked team heading into the season.
