Pharaoh Compton is officially entering the NCAA Transfer Portal. SDUT’s Mark Zeigler mentioned it was going to happen on Monday night, and one day later, it’s been confirmed.
Compton is the 5th Aztec to hit the portal and the third since it opened on Monday, joining BJ Davis, Miles Byrd, Magoon Gwath, and Miles Heide.
This is the new era of the sport.
Players are going to test the market and see if there is a bigger payday or a better fit for them elsewhere. Players are going to bet on themselves to make a change for the better.
Compton could still find himself back on The Mesa for the 2026-27 season, especially with Heide entering the portal as well. Compton could once again compete for the starting center spot as he did last year, ultimately losing the role to Heide’s rebounding.

It is clear that there is one lingering part about Compton’s game that needs to be fixed, and that is his aggression on defense, leading to too many fouls called.
If that can improve, then he becomes one of the most dangerous players in the sport. Compton cannot be stopped when he is attacking the backet going full speed. He was very successful last season, coming off the bench and becoming an immediate force offensively.
The big man averaged 7.2 points on 72.1% shooting on the season. He only grabbed 2.8 rebounds per game, but remember, he only played 13.8 minutes per game due to the constant foul troubles. That is just 0.6 more than his freshman season. For a guy who shot 72.1% in the country, best for second in the nation if eligible, you would think he would be able to play more than 20 minutes per game. That was not the case for Compton, and he now carries that with him in the portal as he looks for his next potential home.
Compton is very close with fellow Las Vegas native, Taj DeGourville. Keep an eye out for his decision soon, following this one from Compton.
