Padres affiliates went 3-2 on Tuesday.
Let’s waste no more time and dive right into the night’s action.
El Paso Chihuahuas (Lost 5-3 vs Albuquerque) (23-29 on the season)
Nick Solak – 2-for-4, Home Run
Jase Bowen – 1-for-3, Double, Run Scored

Fernando Sanchez – 5 IP, 6 H, 5 R, 5 BB, 7 K (92 pitches – 52 strikes)
Left-hander Fernando Sanchez pitched four innings of scoreless baseball, but the second inning saw the Isotopes score five against him. The left-hander struck out seven batters, which set a career-high for the southpaw at Triple-A. Sanchez picked up whiffs on 32% of swings against him, and his slider had an absurd 63% whiff rate against. However, seven of 11 batted balls went into play over 95 mph against the left-hander. Sanchez also issued five walks, which did not help matters. Sean Boyle threw three innings in relief, allowing no runs. Boyle has pitched to a 1.00 ERA in his past four appearances, spanning nine innings. The right-hander’s first two outings of the month were disastrous (7 IP, 13 ER), but since moving to a relief role, he has been excellent.

Nick Solak hit a home run in the first inning to put El Paso on the board. Solak finished the game 2-for-4, and the former Yankees draftee has been a beacon of consistency for the Chihuahuas this season. Jase Bowen hit a double and scored a run. Victor Duarte went 1-for-3 in the caught stealing department, and while he was held hitless, he posted a 106.4 mph exit velocity, his highest of the season. Will Wagner hit an RBI single and scored a run, while Nate Mondou’s RBI single plated Wagner and cut the deficit to 5-3. Samad Taylor went 1-for-4 with a single in the loss.
San Antonio Missions (Won 3-2 in 8 innings vs Corpus Christi) (18-28 on the season)
Ethan Salas – 2-for-4, Two-Run Home Run
Braedon Karpathios – 2-for-4, Double, Stolen Base, Run Scored
Jagger Haynes – 6 IP, 4 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 7 K (89 pitches – 55 strikes)
Left-hander Jagger Haynes threw a quality start, and it was more than just quality. Haynes did not allow a run in six innings, striking out seven batters. The left-hander has thrown six or more innings in four of five starts in May, striking out 30 across 29.2 innings. Haynes got 14 whiffs from the Hooks’ lineup and is beginning to come into his own as a starter. Harry Gustin allowed a run in one inning of work, giving up an RBI double to Pascanel Ferreras. Sadrac Franco was charged with one run in two-thirds of an inning, as he issued three walks and surrendered a sacrifice fly. Josh Mallitz picked up the final out of the eighth inning. Since the game was called due to rain after eight, the former Ole Miss right-hander was credited with a save, his first of the season.
Ethan Salas broke a scoreless tie in the fifth inning with his seventh home run of the season. Salas’ two-run blast to right field scored Kai Roberts and gave San Antonio a 2-0 lead. It was an impressive feat from Salas, as The Wolff is notoriously hard for left-handed hitters to go deep at. Salas is now hitting .303 with an .867 OPS this season, and while he has not played in or caught every game of the year, he is showing no signs of slowing down. Braedon Karpathios is showing more and more signs of life at the plate, as the Padres’ No. 10 prospect went 2-for-4 with a double, a stolen base, and a run scored. Albert Fabian hit a sacrifice fly to score Karpathios, driving in the Missions’ third and final run.

Fort Wayne TinCaps (Lost 5-2 vs South Bend) (22-24 on the season)
Jake Cunningham – 2-for-3, Two Home Runs
Lamar King Jr – 2-for-4, Double, Single
Matthew Watson – 5 IP, 6 H, 4 R (3 ER), 0 BB, 1 K (65 pitches – 42 strikes)
Jake Cunningham launched two home runs in a TinCaps loss. The former Orioles draftee has shown impressive power to the pull side, and both his home runs went to left field. The 23-year old is now hitting .302 with an OPS over 1.000 at 1.026 in 53 at-bats in May. Lamar King Jr’s success at home carried over to the series opener, as he went 2-for-4 with a double in the loss. Zach Evans hit a double in four at-bats, and the duo of Rosman Verdugo and Kavares Tears each went 1-for-4 with a single.

Matthew Watson pitched five innings on 65 pitches, an economical outing. The right-hander allowed four runs on six hits in his start, striking out just one. Watson picked up six outs via the ground ball, The right-hander was also able to induce a double play, but that came with no outs in the second and the bases loaded. On a more positive note, the right-hander did complete five innings for the second consecutive start. Isaiah Lowe threw 1.1 innings of scoreless relief, striking out one batter. Lowe has shifted to a relief role and is still acclimating to the new role. He has shown some flashes, but has also been susceptible to the home run. Igor Gil pitched two-thirds of an inning with no runs allowed. Braian Salazar threw one inning, allowing a run on a hit and a walk, but induced a double play.

Lake Elsinore Storm (Won 7-6 vs Inland Empire) (26-20 on the season)
Jorge Quintana – 2-for-5, Walk-off RBI Single
Ryan Wideman – 3-for-5, Home Run, Two RBI
Winyer Chourio – 4 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 4 BB, 5 K (83 pitches – 45 strikes)
Lake Elsinore snatched a win away from the visiting 66ers, winning the series opener on Jorge Quintana’s walk-off single. Before Quintana’s heroics, starter Winyer Chourio had an outing that was not as up to snuff as the high standard he has set for himself this season. Chourio allowed two runs on three hits in four innings, but was unable to go deeper into the game as a result of four walks issued. Chourio still picked up five strikeouts, but he and catcher Truitt Madonna were overpowered on the basepaths. Against the Storm’s starting battery, Inland Empire went 7-for-7 on stolen base attempts. Nick Falter pitched three innings in relief but allowed three runs in the fifth inning. Falter has pitched so well this season that seeing him allow runs may have been surreal for the Storm faithful. Despite the runs allowed, Falter’s ability to throw volume innings on short pitch counts negated the damage in his individual stats. Rordy Mejia allowed an unearned run in two innings of relief, earning the win.
Ryan Wideman stole the show in the early going, as the Padres’ No. 11 prospect hit his fourth home run to right-center field in the third inning. Wideman reached base in each of his first three plate appearances and now has a .374 OPS in 45 games this season. Wideman also made another highlight reel catch, running into the center field wall to take away a hard-hit ball. Yimy Tovar, in his first game with the Storm in 2026, went 2-for-5 with two singles and two RBI. Conner Westenburg hit two singles and scored a run, and now, back to Quintana. The Padres’ No. 6 prospect hit a double in the second inning, and after Yimy Tovar tied the game on a single, Quintana faced off against 66ers reliever Reese Lumpkin. Tovar swiped second base, and on the 2-1 offering, Quintana grounded a single past the infield, scoring Tovar and starting the party at The Diamond.
Ryan Wideman blasts his fourth home run of the season to the opposite field!
Wideman is now hitting .303 with an .869 OPS, not to mention the speed on the bases.

ACL Padres (Won 10-1 vs ACL White Sox) (9-9 on the season)
Blake Hunt – 1-for-1, Single, Four Walks
Brendan Durfee – 1-for-4, Home Run, Two RBI
Jeronimo Palmeros – 1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 3 K
Left-hander Jeronimo Palmeros struck out three in his season debut, which lasted all of one inning. The left-hander was an integral part of the DSL Cup-winning Padres Gold in 2025 and is making the jump stateside for the 2026 campaign. Palmeros was solid, a statement that can be extended to the entire Padres’ pitching staff. Erick Batista threw three innings with five strikeouts, picking up the win. While Batista allowed seven baserunners, only one of those came in to score against the right-hander. Dalvi Nunez and Dariel Polanco each threw a scoreless inning. Bernard Jose appears to have rediscovered his command, as he struck out two in a scoreless seventh. Jose, 23, walked 15 in 11 innings with High-A Fort Wayne to open the season; he has walked two against 22 strikeouts in 12.1 innings at the Complex League level.
Blake Hunt and Brendan Durfee were back in the starting lineup, with Hunt doing the catching. Hunt finished a perfect 1-for-1 with four walks, a single, and one run scored. Durfee, meanwhile, opened the scoring with his second home run of the rehab assignment. Luis De Leon hit an RBI triple in the first, giving the Padres a 3-0 lead. Dawson Willis drove in two on an RBI single and an RBI forceout. Moises Valdez’s first double of the season produced a run, and two bases-loaded walks added to the Padres’ tally. Cardell Thibodeaux made his season debut after 21 games with Single-A last season; he went 0-for-4 in the win.
