SDSU’s 2025 schedule shapes up favorably for the Aztecs
On Tuesday, San Diego State and the Mountain West announced the opponents for the Aztecs’ final season in the conference.
The Red and Black host Boise State, Colorado State, San Jose State, and Wyoming. They travel to Fresno State, Hawai’i, Nevada, and New Mexico. The specific times and dates of the contests will be released in the coming months.Â
Head coach Sean Lewis emphasized after the season finale against Air Force that a repeat of the team’s 3-9 record could not happen. Judging by 2024 results, the slate sets up well for a turnaround.Â
Four teams had winning records in the Mountain West last year. The Aztecs miss one of them in UNLV. The rest are coming to play in Snapdragon Stadium. At 6-6, Fresno State had the best record this season of SDSU’s road opponents next year.Â
The Aztecs will compete with the Bulldogs for the Old Oil Can. Though the rivalry trophy currently resides in America’s Finest City, it will be Lewis’ first opportunity to compete against Fresno because the teams did not play in 2024. He will match wits with Bulldogs’ first-year head coach, Matt Entz.
SDSU’s home slate is terrific. Four of the six contests will be against squads that went to bowl games this season. The University of California Berkeley highlights the non-conference portion of the schedule. The Aztecs play the Bears on September 20. The Aztecs also travel to Washington State (September 6) and Northern Illinois (September 27).Â
The Red and Black open the season on Thursday, August 28, against Stony Brook.Â
SDSU is currently accepting season ticket renewals. Season ticket holders who purchase tickets for the upcoming by will be entered into the 12 Days of Giveaways Promotion. Each day from December 13 to December 24, the university will hold a drawing to award someone in their fanbase with special prizes, including two round-trip flight vouchers on Alaska Airlines, a $200 voucher for JLAB, and suite experiences at SDSU sporting events.
My earliest sport’s memory involve tailgating at the Murph, running down the circular exit ramps, and seeing the Padres, Chargers and Aztecs play. As a second generation Aztec, I am passionate about all things SDSU. Other interests include raising my four children, being a great husband and teaching high school.
