San Diego State lands TCU forward Jaedon Ledee for 2022

SDSU lands another big man from the transfer portal.
Jaedon Ledee, a junior from TCU, has committed to San Diego State for the remaining of his NCAA eligibility. Ledee averaged 5.8 points and 3.9 rebounds as a Horned Frog before entering his name into the transfer portal.
Out of high school, Ledee had committed to Ohio State and, at the end of his freshman year, decided to transfer closer to home at TCU.
He was able to get the rare immediate eligibility waiver, playing in 30 games as a sophomore in a reserve role.
Since Ledee had already transferred from another institution and hasn’t received a degree, he will have to sit out the 2021-2022 season before playing in an Aztecs uniform. With the NCAA granted an extra year of eligibility, he might have an extra 6th year for 2023-2024.
What San Diego State gets is another big man listed at 6-9, 240 lbs. With Matt Bradley, Joshua Tomaic, and Aguek Arop leaving by the end of the 2021-2022 season, they’re ensuring length in the frontcourt. In the TCU scheme, LeDee was a big man who played like a traditional PF – back to the defender, low post-game. What works for Ledee is the positionless ball at SDSU. Because a four could mean a three, it would give Ledee more opportunities to be an offensive machine. The redshirt season gives him also the chance to get up to speed with defensive schemes and acclimate to the toughness of the Mountain West.

At best, you’re looking at someone like Joshua Tomaic who can have an impact once they hit the court. He scores at a 53% average and can get physical in the paint. For his floor, he might look like an Agouek Arop as a primary length defender, with not much to add offensive output.

San Diego State continues to reload its roster for another season, and we’ll have to wait to see how Ledee performs in an Aztec uniform.
