Once again, Magoon Gwath decided that entering the NCAA transfer portal is the right move for him.
Last offseason, Gwath entered the portal, and many expected him to leave the program for a big NIL payday.
The 7-footer has a huge ceiling, and a few high-major teams reportedly wanted him. After weeks in the portal, Gwath decided to return to San Diego State. Recovering from knee surgery, Gwath felt that SDSU was the best place for him.
The big man would make his season debut against Troy before playing through a very difficult season for his standards. It never seemed like Gwath got comfortable this past year, and he continued to deal with injuries and frustrations. The good news was that he managed to get much healthier toward the end of the season, leading to more minutes. He took off the knee brace and helped the Aztecs reach the conference championship.
Gwath missed eight games total last season. He played only 19.0 minutes, averaging 8.9 points, 4.3 rebounds, 0.3 assists, and 1.5 blocks per game. Despite the unexpected low points average, Gwath shot 51.9% from the floor and 43.6% from three-point range. He shot above 50% from deep for a majority of the season, but missed a lot down the stretch and in Las Vegas for the conference tournament.

Gwath will now wait and see which schools are interested, and the odds of him returning for the second consecutive offseason are slim to none. There will be teams that will pay a handsome fee for a 7ft forward who can space the floor and block two shots per game.
