SDSU continues to bolster its 2026 recruiting class, and the latest addition comes with serious upside and confidence to match.
Now with 26 recruits committed to the SDSU program for the 2026 recruiting class, the Aztecs are looking to solidify a competitive group entering the PAC-12 coming from the Mountain West Conference. Although many have come out of California, the Aztecs were able to pick from the highly competitive pool of Texas high school football programs. Some of the most talented athletes in America come from Texas, and Jeremy Garner is no exception.
Jeremy Garner II, a high-motor cornerback from Texas, announced his commitment to the Aztecs following a recruitment process fueled by faith, family, and a desire to be great.

Garner, originally from Hawaii before relocating to Texas, described the move as a defining moment in his football journey.

“I had to prove to the whole state who I am,” Garner said. “That experience shaped the competitor I am today.”
The 6-foot defender didn’t mince words about what made SDSU stand out: “Coach Sumler (Demetrius Sumler). He’s the main reason I committed. He’s gotten multiple corners to the league,” said Garner, citing the trust and development pedigree of the Aztecs’ staff as his top priority. “The coaching staff is one of the best.”
During his campus visit, Garner was struck by SDSU’s culture and setting. “The campus is very nice weather-wise, and the culture around it is positive,” he said. “Academics played a big role, too. SDSU has a great business program, which was important for me.”
A number of schools were in the mix before his final decision, but Garner said the combination of staff quality and SDSU’s move to the PAC-12 put them over the top. “It felt like the right time and the right fit.”

His focus and energy extend well beyond the field. Garner frequently references staying “locked in” and “blessed” on social media—phrases that speak to his inner drive and faith.
“The Lord plays a big part in my life,” he said. “He’s helped me with decisions I couldn’t handle on my own.”
That internal fire drives big goals for his college career. “I want to be 1st team all-conference as a freshman,” Garner said. “I’m motivated every day by my desire to be great—and eventually, get into the Hall of Fame.”
Garner describes his playing style in one word: energetic. “I bring energy and competitiveness. I’m not afraid to take on a challenge,” he said. He also credited SDSU’s legacy of strong cornerbacks as part of what sealed his decision. “Watching the great things they did in the program helped me pull the trigger.”
Becoming the first in his family to play football at the next level is something that still hasn’t fully sunk in. “It means a lot. My family was speechless when they found out. Just seeing the joy on their faces meant everything to me.”
As he heads into his senior season, Garner’s proudest accomplishment is building lasting bonds with his teammates and helping elevate his high school program over the past three years. “That’s something I’ll always carry with me,” he said.
For SDSU fans wondering what’s next, Garner has a clear message: “Keep an eye out for this ‘26 class—we’re going to make heads turn in the PAC-12!”
