Taylor Flint (Kornieck) traded to Racing Louisville
San Diego Wave FC announced a trade on Monday, January 22, that would send midfielder Taylor Flint, formerly Kornieck, to Racing Louisville FC in exchange for $150,000 in allocation money.
“We want to thank Taylor (Flint) for her time with the club, and wanted to respect her request to pursue a new opportunity within the league,” said San Diego Wave FC general manager Molly Downtain. “Taylor (Flint) was a true professional on and off the field and we wish her all the best in this next step of her career.”
Flint’s request comes just before the start of the NWSL preseason, in which she may have foreseen a limited starting role for her this season. The Wave bolstered their midfield with the offseason signing of Savannah McCaskill, who employs a similar style in her game as a tall attacking midfielder who is strong on the offensive side of the pitch.
Flint joined the Wave in 2022 in a transaction alongside Alex Morgan from the Orlando Pride in exchange for expansion draft protection. That season, she broke out as one of the top players in the NWSL with her dynamic attacking style that used her physicality as one of the tallest players in the league.
Over two seasons, Flint scored seven goals and tallied four assists for the Wave and earned a call-up to the USWNT in June 2022. She broke the record for the tallest player to play for the team and appeared in 10 matches, scoring a goal against Colombia in her first international match.

2023 was not as successful for Flint as she dealt with multiple injuries throughout the season and became an option off the bench for head coach Casey Stoney, especially in late game set piece situations.
The Wave will start their season on March 15, in a newly revised NWSL Challenge Cup format that will feature only one match between the NWSL Champion versus the Supporter’s Shield winner. The match will take place against Gotham FC at Red Bull Arena in New Jersey.
