This Sunday, May 25, the San Diego Wave will host North Carolina Courage for a game in the 2025 NWSL regular season.

The Wave are on a massive five-game undefeated streak, coming off a 1-0 win away from home against Gotham FC.

San Diego tied 1-1 against the Portland Thorns in their last home game at Snapdragon Stadium. The Wave has only lost one match out of four at the Mission Valley Fortress this season and will be looking for another win.

Kimmi Ascanio scored the game-winner for the Wave in their last game against Gotham, and she has been one of the standouts this year. The 17-year-old forward has scored three goals and has provided an assist in nine games played.

Ascanio has scored in two consecutive games and will be looking for another notable performance in this game. Jonas Eiedevall has experimented with the starting frontline, leaving out Maria Sanchez and Melanie Barcenas in the last match. However, it seems that Delphine Cascarino and Kimmi Ascanio have a secured starting role at this point of the season.

The backline kept its second clean sheet of the season against Gotham, thanks to strong performances by Perle Morroni and Trinity Armstrong.

North Carolina has the potential to be a challenge for San Diego, currently on a four-game undefeated streak. The Courage are coming off a 2-0 win against Chicago, where Manaka Matsukubo scored her first two goals of the season.

Former San Diego Wave star Jaedyn Shaw is now on North Carolina, but she has had a tough start to the season. Shaw has no goal contributions in nine games this season and has been a very underwhelming signing so far.

I'd like this amount to

However, Shaw is still a very talented player who should always be one to watch for any opposition. Another talented player for the Carolina side in the attack is Ashley Sanchez, who has scored two goals this season.

The Courage also has one of the better goalkeepers in the league, Casey Murphy, who always has the potential to be a factor.

Based on recent form, this is a tough match to call, but San Diego should have a slight advantage at Snapdragon Stadium. This is set to be a hard-fought clash at the Snap’, but it is definitely a winnable game for the Wave.
