Alex Bleszynski is a 2025 high school graduate who will provide immediate help to the San Diego State Aztecs offensive line.

Head coach Sean Lewis is looking to build his own roster in the coming seasons at San Diego State.

Even though the transfer portal is alive and well in collegiate football, Lewis took over a program that Brady Hoke developed.

It is natural for the new regime to take a few seasons as they gather “their” players.

Alex Bleszynski is obviously Coach Lewis’ type of player. Even though the school has been in communication with him since the Hoke days. Lewis values the intensity Bleszynski brings to the field. The young lineman plays with anger and a chip on his shoulder. He will help cultivate an Aztec way to The Mesa.

He has ambition to play beyond college. His goals are sky high as the lineman is thirsty for coaching, The Aztecs will be able to mold this young player. The eagerness to learn bodes well for his future with the Aztecs. He will improve with collegiate coaching and may ultimately reach his goal of playing in the NFL.

Bleszynski displays brute strength that will help SDSU establish a dominant offensive line. That will be the key to sustained success. There are endless amounts of former Aztecs in the NFL (both past and present), so there is a tremendous amount of respect for their coaching staff. You get that sense when communicating with the Aztec offensive lineman.

Most importantly to SDSU, Alex Bleszynski is a Southern California product as the team continues to keep local products close to home. In the past, anyone with serious “NFL” talent went elsewhere to play football. San Diego State must continue to bring in Southern California talent and reap the benefits. This will be challenging, but securing Bleszynski is a great sign for the future.

When talking to this young lineman, you get a sense that he gets it. Maturity will be a strong suit for him as he hits the campus this fall. There is an outside chance he gets ample playing time in hsi freshman year, but that is entirely on him and what he shows as he comes to SDSU.

The 6-foot-3 lineman is capable of a lot in the game of football. There is upside here.

Let’s learn a little more about the future Aztec.

Please tell me about your earliest remembrance of the game while playing?

“My earliest remembrance of the game was in my freshman year of football. I started to play in freshman year, and one thing I can remember was our last game. I got put on the defensive line and got a sack on arguably the “best” quarterback in the freshman football league. That was my first ever sack, and I was so excited. It made me fall more in love with the game.”

Who provides you with motivation to play at a high level?

“My parents and coaches provide me with the motivation I need to play at a high level. Ever since I was a kid my dad would always push me to be the best version of myself. My dad would support me in every part of my football journey, from bringing me to training and college camps, etc. My coaches also motivate me because the coaches I train with all believe that I can achieve a lot. Even when I’m not performing well, they all stay by my side, support me, and help me get through anything that’s stressful throughout the journey.”

Describe your style of play to someone who has never seen you play.

“I like to be physical and play fast. I focus on my get off and I like playing angry with aggression. Any defender that’s on the other side of the line of scrimmage- I don’t take easy. I always put in as much effort as possible, and when I play angry, I feel that I can go beyond my physical limits.”

Being that you are a lineman, do you prefer run blocking or pass blocking?

“As an offensive lineman, I prefer run blocking. I like run blocking because I have confidence in my speed and strength to overpower the defender and make gaps that the running back could hit. I like run blocking a lot because it tests my mentality and my toughness.”

How important is your relationship with your other lineman vital for success?

“I strongly believe that a good and strong relationship with the other lineman is the only way success is achieved. I say this because in football, an offensive lineman is the only position where you need to defend the quarterback who has the ball, and your back is turned to the ball. With your back being turned to the ball, all five of the linemen need to be on the same page and communicate. This is only achieved if we have a strong bond together, and if someone makes a mistake, we pump them up in order for them not to make that same mistake.”

Do you take pride in protecting your QB?

“I take a lot of pride in protecting my quarterback. Regardless of who my quarterback is, one of my jobs is to protect him. If I make my quarterback right by giving him time and making sure he doesn’t get hit, then he will make me right by throwing touchdowns and leading us to win the game.”

What are your weaknesses right now? How can you improve?

“I believe that my biggest weakness currently is overthinking plays. I tend to think too much about some plays, and I need to work on just doing my assignments to the best of my ability. Just play the game of football instead of thinking about the play too much.”

Why did you choose SDSU over other schools?

“I chose SDSU over other schools because the coaching staff at SDSU. I’ve known them since my sophomore year, and they’re the only school that has consistently talked to me, recruited me, and got to know me. The coaching staff at SDSU did a really good job in teaching me more about the history of the program and everything about the school in general.”

Did any SDSU coaches bond with you and provide specific assistance in your decision to come to SDSU?

“Yes, the SDSU coaches did bond with me and provided me with the information I needed to know about SDSU and why I should go to SDSU. They have a really good coaching staff who know what they’re doing and have sent players to the NFL.”

What kind of goals do you have for your senior year and once you play in college?

“Some goals I have are to get playing time early in my college years. I want to get a feel for college ball so I can improve in my free time and during practice. Another goal of mine is to go to the NFL.”

What were your thoughts of the SDSU campus?

“I really liked the SDSU campus. I think it’s one of the best campuses in all of the state because of the weather, the color combination, and all the trees around campus, which give it a really aesthetic look.”

Here are highlights of Bleszynski in action.

The strength is apparent.

The guard gets his hands on his defensive assignment and is relentless in moving him.

Bleszynski shows excellent footwork and often pulls to the left or the right in his running assignments. He is not afraid of contact and thrives in the trenches.

In time, this could be a special player for the Aztecs. The tools are there, and so is the commitment to get better.
