San Diego Wave seeks first away win vs. Racing Louisville

San Diego Wave will play its fifth game of the 2025 NWSL regular season this Saturday, April 19, against Racing Louisville.
The game will be held at Lynn Family Stadium with an early start time of noon PST.
San Diego is coming off consecutive defeats against Kansas City and Orlando after a 3-2 win against Utah. The Wave has yet to win on the road, with that loss against Orlando and a 1-1 draw against Angel City FC to open the season.
This is a very winnable game against a Louisville team that only has one win this season and is coming off a 2-0 loss to Washington at home. The team from Kentucky has scored only two goals this season, suffering two shutouts in four games.
Louisville missed out on the playoffs last season and is not expected to be very competitive this season. Former San Diego Wave player Taylor Flint (formerly Taylor Kornieck) is one of Louisville’s key players and will need to be marked closely on set pieces, given her height and physical prowess.
San Diego generated some attacking play, but really struggled to be clinical in front of net against Kansas City in the 2-0 defeat. Adriana Leon did not start the match and just played a few minutes off the bench, most likely to fatigue due to national team play.
However, Leon is expected to slot back into the starting 11, which has the potential to help this team be more clinical. San Diego has enough talent to walk away from this match with the three points, but any away match in the NWSL has its complications.
Maria Sanchez and Kenza Dali were specifically quiet on the offensive front against Kansas City and will need to pick up the pace this week.
