Padres minor league affiliates went 1-1 on Sunday, with one affiliate concluding its season.

Here is our daily recap of games played.

El Paso Chihuahuas (Won 13-8 vs Albuquerque) (77-66 on the season)

Tim Locastro – 2-for-4, Home Run, Single, Four RBI

Rodolfo Duran – 2-for-5, Home Run, Three RBI

Jackson Wolf – 4.1 IP, 6 H, 2 R, 2 BB, 4 K (88 pitches – 57 strikes)

El Paso’s offense rode a pair of blowup innings to a win over Albuquerque. El Paso took the Sunday spirit in stride, going for a touchdown in the first. Tim Locastro opened the game with a home run, and Rodolfo Duran launched another homer three batters later, bringing the score to 3-0. Trenton Brooks singled to score Nate Mondou and Marcos Castanon, and a two-run single by Tim Locastro finished the seven-run first. The Chihuahuas scored six in the eighth inning to push the score out of reach, as Tim Locastro was hit by a pitch to score one run. Clay Dungan doubled to score two runs, and Francisco Acuna hit a sacrifice fly to score the fourth run of the inning. Rodolfo Duran doubled to score one run, and Marcos Castanon singled to score the final run.

Jackson Wolf threw 4.1 innings of two-run baseball, striking out four batters. The left-hander was effective and efficient, limiting the Isotopes’ offense to two runs. With such a large lead (7-0 after one inning), Wolf never allowed the Isotopes to get into a rhythm at the dish. Omar Cruz pitched 1.2 innings of relief, earning the win and ending an Isotopes threat in the fifth. Alek Jacob allowed five baserunners in 1.2 innings, allowing two earned runs. Maikel Miralles made his debut with El Paso, allowing four runs in two-thirds of an inning, notching his first strikeout in the process. Jake Higginbotham got the final out of the game, sealing the Chihuahuas’ win.

I'd like this amount to

San Antonio Missions (Lost 7-0 vs Springfield) (65-72 on the season)

Braedon Karpathios – 1-for-4, Single

Kai Murphy – 1-for-3, Single

Jagger Haynes – 4 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 3 K (64 pitches – 44 strikes)

San Antonio closed out their season with a shutout loss against the first-place Springfield Cardinals. Jagger Haynes did all that he could to lead the Missions to a win, pitching four innings of scoreless baseball, striking out three. Haynes allowed only one hit, walking two. It was a strong close to the left-hander’s season, and it remains to be seen whether it has been enough to earn him a 40-man roster spot (as he is Rule 5 eligible this offseason). Johan Moreno allowed two runs in two innings of relief, striking out three. Cole Paplham recorded two outs but was charged with five runs. The right-hander’s command was ineffective, as he plunked three batters and walked two. Harry Gustin threw the final 1.1 innings for San Antonio, allowing two hits and no runs. The lineup also struggled, recording two base hits and five walks. Albert Fabian drew two walks at the top of the lineup; Damon Dues, Romeo Sanabria, and Anthony Vilar drew the three remaining walks for the Missions. Braedon Karpathios and Kai Murphy recorded the Missions’ lone base hits on the day, and Karpathios contributed on defense with an outfield assist to end the seventh. The team stranded seven runners, finishing 0-for-6 with runners in scoring position.

With the Missions’ season in the books, we at EVT thank our readers in San Antonio and the Texas League for following the Missions alongside us this season. A shoutout to Sideline Sports’ Austin Hartsfield for allowing us to use his live video from Missions-Sod Poodles games this season as well.
