Padres minor league affiliates went 1-1 on Saturday.
Here is our daily recap of games played.
Roster Moves
The El Paso Chihuahuas made a pair of transactions before their game on Saturday. Right-hander Bradgley Rodriguez was recalled by the Padres (MLB), and left-hander JP Sears was optioned to El Paso in a corresponding move.
El Paso Chihuahuas (Won 16-3 vs Albuquerque) (76-66 on the season)

Rodolfo Duran – 4-for-5, Cycle, Seven RBI
Marcos Castanon – 2-for-5, Two Singles, Three RBI
Matt Waldron – 6 IP, 6 H, 3 R, 1 BB, 4 K (84 pitches – 60 strikes)
Yonathan Perlaza set the Chihuahuas’ single-season RBI record with a solo homer in the Chihuahuas’ win over Albuquerque. With his fourth-inning homer, Perlaza drove in his 106th run of the season, setting a franchise record. Even so, Perlaza’s feat was one of two notables for the Chihuahuas. Rodolfo Duran hit for the sixth cycle in Chihuahuas’ history, finishing with seven runs batted in. Duran launched a grand slam in the eighth to close out the cycle, ending an 11-game homerless streak. Marcos Castanon finished the game with three RBI on two singles and a run-scoring groundout. Luis Campusano finished with a classic 1-2-3-4 stat line: one hit, two at-bats, three runs scored, and four walks.

On the mound, Matt Waldron tossed a quality start for the Chihuahuas, holding the Isotopes to three runs on six hits in six innings of work. Waldron made himself at home in the strike zone, with only 24 of his 84 pitches being balls. Waldron struck out four batters, getting five of 18 outs via the ground ball. Waldron got 13 whiffs in the game, and while he allowed 12 hard-hit balls in play, only one left the ballpark. Manuel Castro pitched two scoreless innings in relief of Waldron, and while he did not register a strikeout, Castro allowed only one baserunner. Misael Tamarez closed out the win with a scoreless ninth.
@epchihuahuas catcher Rodolfo Duran finished with the SIXTH cycle in team history in Saturday night’s 16-3 win.

San Antonio Missions (Lost 7-4 vs Springfield) (65-71 on the season)
Ryan Jackson – 3-for-4, Double, Run Scored
Eguy Rosario – 1-for-5, Three-Run Home Run
Eric Yost – 2 IP, 3 H, 6 R, 5 BB, 1 K (56 pitches – 23 strikes)
San Antonio dropped their second-to-last game of the season on the road in Springfield by a 7-4 final score. Despite the final score, San Antonio went into the ninth trailing 7-1, making this game a one-sided affair in favor of the Cardinals. Starter Eric Yost was chased after two innings, as the right-hander’s command was not in its sharpest iteration. Yost walked five, a season-high, striking out only one batter. It was an underwhelming conclusion to a breakout campaign for the former Northeastern Huskies right-hander, but his season provides a glimpse into what he could be down the line. Ryan Och tossed two scoreless innings out of the bullpen, striking out one. Andrew Moore pitched two innings of one-run baseball, fanning three batters. If this is his last outing of the season, Moore finishes his debut season with the Padres organization with a 4.02 FIP, 31.4% strikeout rate, and 19.2% walk rate in 36.1 innings. Garrett Hawkins struck out three batters in two innings of scoreless relief and now has 80 strikeouts in 60 innings this season.

Ryan Jackson keeps on hitting at higher levels, as the former USC Trojan went 3-for-4 with a double and a run scored. Jackson, who was one of eight Padres prospects assigned to the Arizona Fall League, has gone 6-for-20 (.300 average) in his last five games. Kai Murphy doubled to score Jackson in the fourth inning, driving in his 21st run of the season. Braedon Karpathios, who will join Jackson in the AFL, finished 2-for-4 with two singles in the loss. Eguy Rosario launched a three-run homer in the ninth inning, his second with San Antonio and fifth of the season.
