Padres affiliates went 0-5 on Wednesday.
Let’s dive right into the night’s events.
El Paso Chihuahuas (Lost 15-8 vs Sugar Land) (25-34 on the season)
Blake Hunt – 2-for-4, Home Run, RBI
Nick Solak – 4-for-4, Home Run, Double, Four RBI

Evan Fitterer – 3.1 IP, 5 H, 6 R, 3 BB, 2 K (79 pitches – 41 strikes)
Right-hander Evan Fitterer struggled against the Space Cowboys, allowing a season-high six earned runs. Fitterer only struck out two batters, but led all pitchers in the game with 12 swings and misses. The right-hander’s fastball was knocked around, as batters put the ball in play over 95 mph on 4 of 10 balls in play. Sean Boyle gave up one run in 1.2 innings of relief, striking out two. Miguel Cienfuegos struck out two in one inning, but Alek Jacob gave up a two-run home run in one inning of work. Garrett Hawkins walked three while recording just one out, and all three bequeathed runners scored against Justin Yeager. Yeager allowed three runs of his own in 1.2 innings.
The Chihuahuas launched four home runs, but left six runners on base in the loss. Nick Solak finished 4-for-4 with a home run, double, and four runs batted in. Blake Hunt, making his season debut in El Paso, had two hits, including a 99.2 mph home run. Known for his strong defensive acumen, Hunt has hit three home runs between his rehab assignment and the Chihuahuas. Look out for Hunt to take on the bulk of catching duty in El Paso. Pablo Reyes launched a home run as part of a 3-for-4 day, reaching base four times. Marcos Castanon crushed his seventh home run of the season, a solo home run that came off the bat at 105.6 mph. Carlos Rodriguez hit an RBI single in the loss.

San Antonio Missions (Lost 7-6 vs Wichita) (21-32 on the season)
Romeo Sanabria – 2-for-5, Home Run, Double, Three RBI
Chris Sargent – 1-for-2, Home Run, Walk, RBI
Victor Lizarraga – 2.1 IP, 2 H, 5 R, 6 BB, 4 K (71 pitches – 31 strikes)
Right-hander Victor Lizarraga did not have his sharpest command, as the right-hander issued six walks in 2.1 innings. 31 of his 71 pitches were strikes, and thanks to the walks putting runners on, Lizarraga gave up a grand slam in the third inning to put Wichita in front. Sadrac Franco threw 1.2 innings in relief, striking out two. Francis Pena threw yet another scoreless outing, as the right-hander pitched two innings of shutout baseball with three strikeouts. The 25-year old right-hander has pitched more than three outs in each of his past five appearances, striking out 17 with four walks in 9.1 innings. Harry Gustin’s troubles with the long ball continued, as on a 0-2 slider inside to Andrew Cossetti, the Wind Surge’s catcher put his team in front with a two-run home run.

Romeo Sanabria has begun to show the “Spring of Sanabria” form he showed with the big league club as of late. The Missions’ first baseman opened the scoring with an RBI double in the first inning. Luis Verdugo then drew a bases-loaded walk to extend the lead to two. Chris Sargent launched his second home run of the season in the second inning. Carson Tucker hit two doubles out of the leadoff spot, driving in a run with one of his extra-base hits. Ethan Salas went 0-for-3 as the Missions’ DH, but drew two walks and stole a base. The Missions have played Salas as the DH on Wednesdays over the past few weeks to get him accustomed to a full six-day game week. They did not play him on Wednesdays earlier in the season for load management, especially since he missed most of 2025 due to a stress reaction in his lower back. Romeo Sanabria hit a two-run home run in the seventh to give the Missions what became a short-lived lead. The 24-year old has hit in three straight games, and hit .283 with an .813 OPS in May.

Fort Wayne TinCaps (Lost 17-7 vs Lake County) (24-29 on the season)
Kavares Tears – 1-for-3, Three-Run Home Run
Lamar King Jr – 2-for-4, Two Singles, RBI
Maikel Miralles – 1.2 IP, 3 H, 4 R, 4 BB, 2 K (38 pitches – 19 strikes)
Maikel Miralles had a tale of two innings in his start against Lake County. Miralles threw six pitches in a scoreless first, but labored through two outs on 32 pitches in the second. Miralles allowed four runs on three hits, walking four batters. With the TinCaps up 6-0, this was not ideal for the team. Miralles has not pitched deeper than the third inning in each of his past three starts, allowing 18 runs in six innings over those games. Command has been the root of the issues, as he has walked 11 in those three starts. Isaiah Lowe came on for long relief for the second time in five games, and he allowed a go-ahead home run to Jace Laviolette to make the score 7-6. Lowe gave up another home run three batters later, a two-run shot to Bennett Thompson. Jeferson Villabona threw a scoreless 1.1 innings of relief, striking out one. CJ Widger allowed a two-run triple in one inning of work, and Kleiber Olmedo gave up a three-run home run in 1.1 innings. Luis German was charged with three runs in 1.2 innings.

By the end of the night, one may have forgotten the TinCaps once led 6-0. Justin DeCriscio led off the game with a walk and advanced 90 feet on a Kasen Wells single. Lamar King Jr hit an infield single to score DeCriscio. Alex McCoy walked, and Jake Cunningham hit into a forceout to score the second run. Jack Costello singled to score King Jr, and Kavares Tears put the cherry on top of the inning with a three-run blast. Tears has two extra-base hits and two walks in his last two games. Kasen Wells ended the game 2-for-4 with two singles and a walk, as did Lamar King Jr. Jonathan Vastine was 1-for-4 with a single, and Oswaldo Linares went 1-for-4 with a double and a run scored.

Lake Elsinore Storm (Lost 6-5 vs Fresno) (30-23 on the season)
Qrey Lott – 1-for-3, Home Run, Two RBI
Kerrington Cross – 1-for-4, Home Run
Jesus A. Castro – 5 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 5 K (76 pitches – 51 strikes)
Jesus A. Castro and his wiffleball sinker dominated the Fresno lineup over five innings. The right-hander struck out five batters in his start, and Castro generated 10 whiffs from Fresno’s lineup, picking up five outs via the ground ball. The right-hander entered this start with a 53.8% groundball rate in 33.1 innings, and after this performance, he has dropped his ERA to 3.05. Nick Falter again worked three innings, not allowing a run and striking out one. Falter’s season numbers are among the best in the Storm bullpen, as he has a 1.91 ERA and 2.78 FIP in 37.2 innings this season. Carson Swilling was charged with four runs while recording one out, and Rordy Mejia allowed two runs in one-third of an inning, giving up a walk-off home run.

Three home runs led the Storm’s effort in what looked to be a win after eight innings. Kerrington Cross, fresh off a Player of the Month Award, launched his seventh home run of the season in the fourth inning. Qrey Lott hit his fourth home run of the season later in the inning, going down and away to pull a slider to the left-field stands. Lott remains an intriguing prospect, as he has plenty of speed and power, but pairs it with a disciplined approach at the plate. When he swings, he knows he has a chance to make good contact. Bradley Frye’s sixth double of the season scored Jose Verdugo, giving Frye his 28th RBI of the season. George Bilecki hit his second home run of the season in the eighth inning, finishing 1-for-3.

ACL Padres (Lost 4-3 vs ACL Mariners) (11-12 on the season)
Santiago Vargas – 2-for-3, Home Run, RBI
Jack Mathey – 1-for-1, Single, Walk, Run Scored
Cameron Nohos – 4 IP, 4 H, 2 R (1 ER), 1 BB, 8 K
Padres starter Cameron Nohos struck out eight batters, his second-highest tally of the season. Nohos allowed two runs (one earned) on four hits across four innings, and he did not allow an extra-base hit across his start. Nohos has now fanned 38.1% of opposing batters down on the complex, and could very well be in line for a midseason promotion if he can keep building up as a starter. Florangel Vasquez gave up two runs in two innings, striking out two. The Padres’ lineup only picked up four hits all game, with Santiago Vargas accounting for two of those. Vargas hit his second home run of the season in the fourth inning. Jack Mathey hit a single, scoring a run. Luis De Leon went 0-for-2 with a walk and a sacrifice fly, scoring Mathey. Eduarlin Tejeda scored a run on a wild pitch for the third and final Padres run of the game. Jhoan De La Cruz went 0-for-3 with a walk in the loss.
In other ACL Padres news, infielder Deivid Coronil was assigned to the Complex League late last week. Coronil was intended to open the season with the ACL Padres, but was finally able to report to the team.
