This past Thursday, May 30, Club Tijuana officially announced the signing of Emanuel Reynoso. The Argentine midfielder became the first signing for Xolos this offseason and the first signing for the Border City Dogs with Juan Carlos Osorio at the helm.

Reynoso previously spent four years in MLS with Minnesota United, where he had nearly 100 appearances. The 28-year-old playmaker was only on the pitch for 30 minutes this season, but last season, he contributed with six goals and four assists in 18 games played.

Reynoso’s best season in MLS came in his 2022 All-Star campaign when he scored 11 goals and provided six assists in 30 games played. Before MLS, Reynoso had a relatively successful career in Argentina with Talleres de Cordoba and Boca Juniors. With the very prestigious Boca Juniors team, Reynoso was part of two Argentine league-winning teams.

“Bebelo” is a very talented player who brings a lot of creativity to any side that he is a part of. The 28-year-old player can play as an attacking midfielder and also out on the wing if neccesarry. Speed is not a strong suit for Reynoso, as his best position is more centrally or behind the striker.

Club Tijuana seemed to lack creativity at times within the midfield, and Reynoso has the potential to bring that to Juan Carlos Osorio’s squad. One factor that makes this a very risky signing is that the Argentine playmaker has struggled with severe disciplinary issues in the past. He was recently spotted in his native Argentina alongside a man wielding a pistol and stacks of money.

Reynoso has struggled with other scandals in the past, but if he can concentrate on the pitch, he has the potential to be a key signing for Club Tijuana.
