AZL Padres 2 (20-18) Lost 6-4

It was a tale of unearned runs that pitchers gave up as a result of bad fielding in the loss on Tuesday for the AZL Padres 2 team. Starter Gabriel Morales only allowed two hits and struck out five hitters in 3.1 innings, and the bullpen pitched well, but the defense simply let the team down on Tuesday. The team only totaled five hits, so the offense didn’t perform well either. Jordy Barley and Yordi Francisco each had a hit in four at-bats, while Alison Quintero had two hits with an RBI and two runs scored. Jonny Homza had three hits and two RBI as the most significant offensive contributor.

Jordy Barley: 1-4

Yordi Francisco: 1-4

Alison Quintero: 2-4, 2 Runs, RBI

Jonny Homza: 3-4, 2 RBI

Gabriel Morales: 3.1 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 4 BB, 5 K’s

DSL Padres (30-26) Won 4-1

The team had strong pitching that kept the opponents off the board for the most part, only allowing one run in the victory. Eudi Asencio started the game and threw three innings, allowing one earned run despite the fact that he walked four batters, while striking out five. Then the bullpen threw six shutout innings, only walking one and striking out six batters in an impressive effort. They managed to put up four runs, despite only managing three hits in the contest. Junior Perez played a nice game, with a hit, RBI, run scored, and two walks. Matias Polanco also played well, recording a hit, RBI, and a walk. Shortstop Bryan Torres didn’t get any hits, but walked three times and scored a run.
