The city of San Diego is falling in love with Ander Dreyer, who led San Diego FC to one of the most improbable seasons in MLS history.
San Diego FC extended Anders Dreyer this week through the 2028-29 seasons with club options through the 2029-30 season.
The striker will remain with the team for at least the next three seasons.
Dreyer, 27, joined SDFC as the Club’s second Designated Player ahead of the Club’s 2025 inaugural season. He was awarded the 2025 MLS Newcomer of the Year, scored 19 goals (third highest) in his debut season. Dreyer totaled 38 regular-season goal contributions, which was the second-most in MLS He was the MVP of the team and, if not for Lionel Messi, may have been in contention for MVP of the league.

“Extending Anders’ contract was a clear priority for us heading into this season,” said SDFC Sporting Director Tyler Heaps. “He was able to very quickly show his value to this team through his performances, work ethic, and commitment to the group on and off the field. This extension reflects our confidence in him and our belief that he will continue to play a key role in helping us reach our objectives.”
The franchise is content with Dreyer leading the club moving forward. Todd Heaps was very clear about that.
The 27-year-old Danish superstar is thriving in San Diego and becoming a household name in the MLS community.

He thanks his team and his fellow players, but gives a salute to the fans for their support.
It is easy to support a player like Dreyer who exemplifies what it means to be a professional athlete.
