The San Diego Wave will host Seattle Reign at Snapdragon Stadium for a game in the 2025 NWSL regular season this Friday, June 6.
The Wave is coming off a massive 5-2 win against North Carolina Courage and is riding on a massive six-game unbeaten streak.
The huge victory against the Courage was truly a fantastic collective effort, with four different goal scorers. Adriana Leon netted a brace, while Maria Sanchez, Kristen McNabb, and Perle Morroni also scored.
Delphine Cascarino provided an assist in this match and was one of the most involved players in the attack. Trinity Armstrong made a strong defensive effort and also provided an assist in the match.
Kimmi Ascanio had one of her more quiet displays of the season, but continues to be impressive in this campaign. Melanie Barcenas was able to make an impact off the bench with an assist of her own.
This was arguably the most impressive display by the Wave this season, as the Southern California side is now second on the NWSL table. In the six-game unbeaten streak, San Diego has outscored its opponents 14-5, really being dominant across the board.
Seattle has been inconsistent as of late, following a 2-1 home loss against the Washington Spirit. The Reign has now lost two of their last three games, but is still sixth on the NWSL table.
Maddie Dahlien leads Seattle with two goals scored, but there has not been a clear offensive standout so far. The Reign has allowed the third fewest (9) goals in the league after 10 games played.
The backline, led by veteran Lauren Barnes, has really been the foundation of this team, along with goalkeeper Claudia Dickey. San Diego’s offense has been the second-best in the league, and this is set to be a great test against the Reign defense.
This has the potential to be a very exciting and hard-fought match at Snapdragon Stadium. However, the Wave will have the massive home-field advantage and have been playing much better than Seattle in recent games.
