Padres affiliates went 2-4 on Tuesday.
Let’s dive right into the action.
El Paso Chihuahuas (Won 5-3 vs Round Rock) (28-36 on the season)
Nick Schnell – 2-for-5, Home Run
Carlos D. Rodriguez – 3-for-5, Three Singles

Marco Gonzales – 5 IP, 5 H, 2 R, 2 BB, 1 K (82 pitches – 54 strikes)
Marco Gonzales threw five quality innings on the road, as he allowed just two runs. Gonzales struck out just one, but his arsenal kept opponents unsure of what was coming next. The veteran southpaw has been something of a steadying presence for the Chihuahuas when he is on his game. Evan Fitterer made a surprise relief appearance, as he threw 3.1 innings of one-run baseball in relief of Gonzales. Fitterer has been a part of the rotation since mid-April, but his recent slump may have played a part in the move. With Jhony Brito returning to the Chihuahuas over the weekend, he will slot into what was Fitterer’s spot in the rotation. Fitterer struck out two in his relief appearance, and his fastball peaked out at 96.7 mph. Kyle Hart picked up the final two outs, earning his first save of the season.
Four of the Chihuahuas’ 12 base hits went for extra bases in their win. Nick Schnell continues to crush right-hander pitching, as the Chihuahuas’ right fielder went 2-for-5 with a solo home run. Schnell, signed after spending the 2025 season with the Nationals organization, has slashed .295/.367/.634 (1.001 OPS) against right-handers this season. Carlos D. Rodriguez hit three singles, but did not score a run. Marcos Castanon doubled and drove in a run, reaching base twice in the game. Anthony Vilar hit an RBI double, and Mason McCoy’s two-hit game included an RBI single in the ninth inning. Clay Dungan was 1-for-1 with three walks in the win.
San Antonio Missions (Lost 10-4 vs Frisco) (25-33 on the season)
Kai Murphy – 2-for-4, Two Singles, Run Scored
Francisco Acuna – 1-for-3, Double, Walk, Run Scored
Victor Lizarraga – 5.1 IP, 9 H, 5 R, 1 BB, 3 K (78 pitches – 56 strikes)
Victor Lizarraga’s start is one where the final line does not tell the full story. Through five innings, Lizarraga had not given up a run on just four hits. The sixth inning changed everything, as the right-hander was charged with five hits and five runs. Frisco batters were laying off the fastball as the game went on; all three run-scoring hits against Lizarraga came on the secondaries (one on the slider and two on the curveball). Harry Gustin struck out three in 1.2 innings of scoreless relief, keeping the deficit at 5-4. Clark Candiotti gave up an RBI double in the eighth inning, and while the right-hander started the ninth inning, all three batters he faced reached base safely. San Antonio went to Francis Pena in a 6-4 game, but Pena gave up two singles and a run-scoring out in the ninth, which saw the deficit grow to 10-4.
The Missions’ lineup was lacking firepower in their loss to Frisco. San Antonio went 1-for-13 with runners in scoring position, a very tough mark indeed. Kai Murphy hit two singles, scoring a run. Kai Roberts drew two walks and scored a run in four trips to the plate, swiping his 17th base of the season. Ethan Salas was involved in a run-scoring play early, as he reached base on a fielder’s choice + error combo that allowed Francisco Acuna to score. Salas also drew a walk in the game. Acuna doubled, walked, and scored a run, while Tirso Ornelas was 1-for-4 with a double.
Fort Wayne TinCaps (Lost 12-2 vs Dayton) (24-34 on the season)
Zach Evans – 2-for-4, Two Doubles, Run Scored
Jake Cunningham – 1-for-2, Single, Two Walks
Matthew Watson – 3 IP, 9 H, 9 R, 1 BB, 4 K (81 pitches – 54 strikes)
Right-hander Matthew Watson pitched into the fourth inning on a season-high 81 pitches, but allowed four runs in a loss to Dayton. Watson was consistently in the strike zone, but Dayton batters were just getting the barrel to the ball at a rate of success that was borderline insurmountable. Watson struck out four batters, generating a season-best 14 swings and misses. Kleiber Olmedo allowed two runs in two innings of relief, striking out one. Ryan Och threw two scoreless innings, striking out two. Och’s rehab tenure with the TinCaps has gone better than his ACL stint, as he has allowed one run in 4.1 innings with Fort Wayne. CJ Widger allowed one run in the ninth inning, striking out two.
The TinCaps’ lineup was stymied by Dragons pitching, as they were held to a 1-for-12 mark with runners in scoring position. Zach Evans hit two doubles, scoring a run. Carlos E. Rodriguez hit an RBI single in four at-bats, picking up the team’s lone RBI of the game. Jake Cunningham singled and drew two walks in the game, but did not come in to score. Alex McCoy scored a run on Rodriguez’s single and hit into a run-scoring play in the eighth inning. McCoy reached on a Dayton fielding error, which scored Zach Evans from third.
Lake Elsinore Storm (Lost 5-4 vs Ontario) (33-25 on the season)
Luke Cantwell – 3-for-4, Triple, Single, Three RBI
Kerrington Cross – 1-for-5, Double, RBI
Winyer Chourio – 6 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 1 BB, 9 K (86 pitches – 59 strikes)
Winyer Chourio returned to his early-season form, striking out nine batters in six innings of work against Ontario. Chourio racked up a league-best 23 swings and misses from Ontario batters, and his nine strikeouts were one shy of his season-high. The Venezuelan right-hander retired 11 of the last 12 batters he faced in a row to end his outing, a dominant display against Ontario. Joseph Herrera allowed two runs in the eighth, including a game-tying single, before being relieved by Rordy Mejia. Mejia allowed the go-ahead run to score, plus an insurance run, all in the eighth.
Luke Cantwell was atop the Storm lineup, going 3-for-4. Cantwell tripled and was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded, but his biggest contribution came in the sixth inning. With the bases loaded, Cantwell lined a base hit to right field, scoring Jorge Quintana and Qrey Lott to give the Storm a 3-2 lead. Kerrington Cross doubled as part of a 1-for-5 day, driving in a ninth-inning run with a groundout. Qrey Lott singled, stole a base, and scored in three at-bats, and Jorge Quintana reached base twice while also scoring a run. Conner Westenburg singled and walked, while Truitt Madonna walked and scored a run.
In less fortunate news, the Storm transferred Ty Harvey to the 60-day IL on Monday. Harvey has been on the injured list since May 26 due to a fracture in his left hand, and this placement means he will not be eligible to return until late July.
ACL Padres (Won 3-1 vs ACL Diamondbacks) (14-13 on the season)
Cardell Thibodeaux – 1-for-2, Two-RBI Double
Jhoan De La Cruz – 2-for-3, Two Singles, Run Scored
Luis Maracara – 3 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 1 BB, 4 K
The ACL Padres matched their win total from the 2025 season with a win over the ACL Diamondbacks on Tuesday. Luis Maracara fired three innings of one-run baseball, striking out four batters. Tuesday’s start was Maracara’s second outing of three innings this season, and his four strikeouts were one shy of his season-high. The right-hander continues to show development in the command department, and while he is still very young at 18, there is a possibility he ends the season with Single-A. Daison Acosta struck out two in one inning of relief, his second rehab outing. Dariel Polanco struck out three in two innings, earning the win. Yoesmerli Beltre struck out three in the seventh to earn the save, his first of the year. Jhoan De La Cruz had a two-hit game at the plate, hitting two singles. De La Cruz has been off to a slow start, but he reached base twice while also scoring a run on Tuesday. Luis De Leon and Jesmaylin Arias were each hit by a pitch, with De Leon’s plunking proving to be consequential in the game’s results. With De Leon on first and the bases loaded, Cardell Thibodeaux doubled to score two and give the Padres a 2-1 lead in the fifth. Santiago Vargas’ sacrifice fly scored De Leon, and the Padres then led 3-1. The lead held up, and the Padres picked up a well-fought win.
DSL Padres Gold – Off Day
DSL Padres Brown (Lost 9-2 vs DSL Royals Fortuna) (1-6 on the season)
Berman Moreno – 1-for-3, Double, Run Scored
Osmy Osorio – 1-for-4, RBI Single
Randy Soto – 3 IP, 3 H, 3 R (2 ER), 1 BB, 3 K
Randy Soto allowed three runs in three innings as the Padres Brown lost by a 9-2 final. Soto struck out three but allowed all three runs in the third inning. Soto threw a wild pitch that did not help matters, but the Royals were grounding singles past the defense steadily. Raudi Perez allowed three runs in two innings, including two run-scoring wild pitches. Yohn Melendez gave up a solo home run in one inning, and Jesus Heredia allowed two runs in two-thirds of an inning. Aneury Sosa and Kelvin Marte combined for two scoreless innings. Berman Moreno hit a double, scoring a run in the game. Osmy Osorio hit an RBI single to score Endy Rios. Luis Rodriguez’s RBI double scored Moreno in the second inning. Ronnier Heras went 1-for-3 with a single and a walk, while Pedro Silva hit a single in four at-bats.
