San Diego Padres affiliates went 5-0 on Saturday.

Here is a recap of the day’s events.

El Paso Chihuahuas (Won 11-3 over Las Vegas) (18-26 on the season)

Gabe Mosser – 5 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 2 BB, 2 K (77 pitches, 50 strikes)

Eguy Rosario – (3-for-4), 4 R, 2B, HR, 3 RBI, HBP

David Peralta – (2-for-4, 2 R, RBI, BB

Matthew Batten – (2-for-4) 3 R, 2B, RBI

Tirso Ornelas – (2-for-5) 2B, 3 RBI

Gabe Mosser let his defense work behind him, going five innings while allowing just two runs in his first win of the season on Saturday. The real story of the day, though, was the offense.

El Paso added veteran outfielder David Peralta to the team before the game and was immediately thrusted into action, scoring twice on the day with a pair of hits including a double. Eguy Rosario reached base four times, scoring each time. The 3B is now hitting .300 with a 1.054 OPS since being optioned to the Chihuahuas.

The Chihuahuas bullpen was excellent, striking out six in four frames while allowing just one unearned run.

San Antonio Missions (Won 6-2 over Corpus Christi) (17-19 on the season)

Victor Lizarraga – 5.2 IP, 3 H, R, 0 ER, 8 K (85 pitches, 53 strikes)

Marcos Castanon – (2-for-3), R, RBI

Robert Perez Jr.  – (2-for-3), 2 R, HR, 3 RBI, BB

Corpus Christi made things tough in the first inning, loading the bases with just one out; however, Victor Lizarraga managed to escape the jam with a strikeout before drawing a fly out to right to end the rally push. Lizarraga didn’t have much difficulty the rest of the way. The Padres #10 prospect finished the day striking out eight in 5.2 innings while allowing just three hits and one unearned run.

Robert Perez Jr. took Hooks starter José Urquidy (rehab assignment) deep to left field for a two-run home run in the third inning. Perez Jr. extended the Missions lead to 3-1 in the 4th with an RBI single as part of a three-run inning. 

Fort Wayne TinCaps (Won 9-2 over South Bend) (16-22 on the season)

Dylan Lesko – 5 IP, 3 H, R, 4 BB, 7 K (90 pitches, 50 strikes)

Albert Fabian – (3-for-4) 3 RBI

Nerwilian Cedeño – (1-for-3), R, HR, 4 RBI, BB

Ethan Salas – (2-for-4) 2 R, 2 2B, RBI

Dylan Lesko was shaky yet again on Saturday in what is becoming a troubling theme for the former first-round draft pick. Despite allowing four walks, Lesko turned in what was arguably his best start of the season, though, striking out seven batters in five innings while allowing just a mere run in the no-decision.

After a pair of singles to lead off the sixth inning, Ethan Salas lined a double to right, scoring Colton Vincent. Two batters later, Albert Fabian singled in a pair to give the Tin Caps a 3-1 lead. Fort Wayne would add six more runs in the 8th inning, including a grand slam from 2B Nerwilian Cedeño.

Lake Elsinore Storm (Won 6-2 over Visalia) (18-18 on the season)

Isaiah Lowe – 6 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 6 K (67 pitches, 47 strikes)

Wyatt Hoffman – (1-for-3), 2 R, 2 HBP, SB

Rosman Verdugo – (2-for-5), R, 2B

The Storm broke into the scoring column first, putting a three spot up in the 4th inning utilizing station-to-station baseball. Visalia got one run back in the bottom half, but that’s all they would get off of starter Isaiah Lowe. The right-hander turned in his best outing of the year, striking out six in as many frames.

Braedon Karpathios lined a bases-loaded single into right in the 7th, followed by a walk for Jacob Campbell. The win brings Lake Elsinore back to .500 as they improve to 8-3 on the year against the Rawhide.

ACL Padres (Won 2-1 over ACL Guardians) (7-5 on the season) 

Ian Koenig – 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, K

Addison Kopack – (1-for-3) R, HR, RBI

The ACL Padres defeated the ACL Guardians 2-1 Saturday in a pitcher’s duel. Padres’ pitchers combined to strike out nine in seven innings, allowing just one hit. A fielder’s choice in the top of the 4th inning looked to be the difference maker for the Guardians until Addison Kopack homered for the Padres in the 7th inning to tie the game.

Carlos Rodriguez followed with a double before being replaced by pinch runner Hugo Sanchez, who came around to score the winning run on a wild pitch.
