The All-Star Break continued, but one lucky Padres affiliate played on!

Here is our recap of the day’s events.

El Paso Chihuahuas – All-Star Break

San Antonio Missions – All-Star Break

Right-hander Braden Nett, who exited his last start due to injury, has been dealing with lower back stiffness, per Express News’ Christina Huang on site in San Antonio. According to Huang, “there’s a good chance” the right-hander will be back on the mound this upcoming weekend against the Amarillo Sod Poodles.

Fort Wayne TinCaps – All-Star Break

TinCaps right-hander Josh Mallitz was assigned to the ACL Padres on Wednesday. Mallitz has not pitched in a game since May 31, so it is likely he is on a rehab assignment, though no official announcement was made in that regard.

Lake Elsinore Storm – All-Star Break

While you wait for the Storm to return to action on Friday, take some time to check out our Editor-in-Chief’s interview with Storm right-hander Kannon Kemp: Padres’ prospect Kannon Kemp battled adversity, but ready to begin career with Storm

I'd like this amount to

ACL Padres (Lost 13-12 vs ACL Reds) (13-41 on the season)

Alex McCoy – 2-for-5, Home Run, Double, Three RBI

Kasen Wells – 2-for-3, Double, Three Runs

Josh Mallitz – 1 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 0 BB, 0 K (11 pitches – 9 strikes)

The ACL Padres showed up early, scoring 12 runs in the first three innings, but the pitching staff surrendered six in the bottom of the eighth, losing 13-12. Josh Mallitz made his first appearance since May 31, tossing an inning of one-run baseball. Dane Lais allowed two runs in 1.2 innings, striking out one batter. Dariel Polanco allowed three runs in 2.1 innings. Ruben Salinas pitched two innings of one-run baseball, but Jordan Valenzuela failed to retire any of the five batters he faced, as all would come around to score. Yovannki Pascual allowed the go-ahead run to score, taking the loss.

Alex McCoy flashed his power in the game, finishing with two extra-base hits, including a homer. McCoy had some blistering exit velocities of over 100 mph, as his home run registered at 112 mph. Kasen Wells had two hits and scored three runs. Jose Sanabria had an RBI double and drove in two runs on the evening. Jesus Castro also singled to drive in two runs, and Emil Turbi had a two-hit game.
