This Sunday, January 18, San Diego Wave FC announced that the club and Delphine Cascarino mutually parted ways.
This means San Diego will not receive a transfer fee or any type of compensation from the next club she joins.
Cascastino was one of the most productive players in NWSL last year and one of the most impactful players on the Wave. With San Diego, the French forward scored five goals and provided six assists, making her the player with the most goal contributions on the roster in 2025.

Cascarino is a very skillful and fast winger who also offers explosiveness and creativity in the frontline. San Diego has already lost some key players this offseason, and this is another very tough loss for the Wave.

San Diego Wave Sporting Director and General Manager Camille Ashton spoke about the talented forward. “Delphine has been an important part of the group since joining the club, and this was not an easy moment for anyone involved,” said Ashton.
Cascarino herself spoke a bit about her decision to leave the club and her current situation. “Since joining the Wave, every moment of my time in San Diego is something I will always cherish. Playing for this club, this city, and in front of such a passionate fan base made this decision incredibly difficult. However, due to personal considerations, the next step in my career needs to be made closer to home at this time,” said Cascarino.
San Diego recently signed forward Ludmila and will be hoping that the Brazilian forward makes an impact in the attack. Casacarino will leave a huge hole in the offense for the following season, and the Wave will need to look for ways to supplement that absence.
