San Digo Padres affiliates went 1-6 on Tuesday.

El Paso Chihuahuas (Lost 10-8 vs Sugar Land) (29-41 on the season)
Bryce Johnson – (2-for-4) Home Run, Double, 2 RBI
Tirso Ornelas – (3-for-4) Home Run
Glenn Otto – 1 IP, 0 H, 2 R, 3 BB, 1 K (32 pitches, 15 strikes)

The Chihuahuas’ pitching staff would allow ten runs against the Sugar Land Space Cowboys, losing what started as a blowout by the close score of 10-8. Glenn Otto would take the mound for his first start at Triple-A, and after a scoreless first, Otto would walk two to open the second before being relieved. Sean Reynolds would allow four runs while recording four outs, including allowing the bequeathed runners to score. Lake Bachar would toss two scoreless innings, striking out three.

The Chihuahuas’ offense had a strong performance, with seven of their 12 hits going for extra bases. Bryce Johnson and Tirso Ornelas had multi-hit games that included home runs. Eguy Rosario and Brett Sullivan would also homer in the game, while the team as a whole went 4-for-12 with runners in scoring position.

San Antonio Missions (Lost 16-4 vs Amarillo) (29-34 on the season)
Cole Cummings – (2-for-5) Home Run, 2 RBI

Austin Krob – 2 IP, 9 H, 7 R, 1 BB, 2 K (54 pitches, 34 strikes)

Austin Krob was hit hard in his start for the Missions, allowing a season-high nine hits and seven runs across two innings. Krob did not have his swing-and-miss stuff today, laboring through the frames and allowing seven singles and two doubles. David Morgan would allow four runs in two frames, with only Raul Brito recording a scoreless outing for the Missions.

Cole Cummings and Brandon Valenzuela were the most notable performers on the offense. Valenzuela had a three-hit effort on the night, including a home run, now hitting .318 in the month of June. Cummings would also homer for his fourth of the year. While the team showed power, they went 0-for-9 with runners in scoring position in the loss.

Fort Wayne TinCaps (Lost 4-1 vs Wisconsin) (27-37 on the season)
Ethan Salas – (1-for-3) Walk
Joshua Mears – (2-for-4) Home Run
Enmanuel Pinales – 5 IP, 7 H, 4 R, 3 BB, 0 K (78 pitches, 47 strikes)
Joshua Mears would drive in the lone run for the TinCaps, homering to make it a 4-1 game, but the offense would put up a goose egg with runners in scoring position (0-for-8) en route to a three-run loss. Ethan Salas would reach base twice in four plate appearances, as would Nerwilian Cedeño (on a single and walk as well). Mears would record two hits in the game, but the team would strike out nine times in the loss.

Enmanuel Pinales would tie a season-high in runs allowed with four, as he wasn’t getting the swing and miss he had gotten earlier in the season. The right-hander allowed seven hits and four runs across five innings. Dwayne Matos and Bradgely Rodriguez would each pitch two scoreless in relief, with Rodriguez striking out five of six batters faced, continuing his ascent in the organization’s rankings.

Lake Elsinore Storm (Won 5-3 vs Visalia) (32-30 on the season)
Nick Vogt – (2-for-4) Double
Romeo Sanabria – (1-for-4) Home Run
Luis Gutierrez – 5 IP, 5 H, 1 R, 0 BB, 2 K (71 pitches, 41 strikes)
Led by a strong start by Luis Gutierrez, the Storm took a close game against the Visalia RawHide on the road. Gutierrez would not have much swing and miss, recording only two strikeouts. However, the southpaw would get seven of his 15 outs on the ground, keeping the ball in the ballpark. Will Varmette would toss two scoreless innings in relief, striking out three. Thomas Balboni Jr would toss the final 1.1 innings, recording a four-out save. The right-hander now has an astonishing 15.8 K/9 rate, and his .431 BABIP is a sign of positive regression on the way.

The offense would pounce early for a four-run second inning, with J.D. Gonzalez hitting a sac fly and Wyatt Hoffman’s two-RBI double staking the Storm to a 4-0 lead. Romeo Sanabria would hit a home run in the eighth to add on, and the Storm’s bats went 3-for-9 with runners in scoring position in the win. Nick Vogt and Chase Valentine would record multi-hit efforts in the win as well.

ACL Padres (Lost 9-2 vs ACL Angels) (16-18 on the season)

Zac Addikson – 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 1 K
Opener Zac Addikson tossed a scoreless inning for the ACL Padres, but a five-run sixth and minimal opportunities with runners on would lead to a loss. Johan Moreno would allow four runs across three innings, and Jesus Lopez would allow five runs in 1.2 innings while punching out three.

Lamar King Jr and Addison Kopack each drove in a run for the Padres, with Kopack recording one of two doubles for the team. L.J. Jones would single in the game, bringing his batting average up to .474 with a 1.355 OPS. Kashon Conliffe would walk twice in the game, and B.Y. Choi would double and score a run.

DSL Padres Gold (Lost 10-1 vs DSL Pirates Black) (6-5 on the season)

Erick Batista – 0.2 IP, 1 H, 2 R, 4 BB, 1 K
The DSL Padres Gold’s pitching staff was torched in the seven-inning game, letting up four runs in the sixth after a trio of two-run frames earlier in the game. Erick Batista would allow two runs in the first inning, walking four batters while striking out one. Reliever Ibrahyn Jimenez would allow four runs of his own across 4.1 innings, striking out two and allowing two hits and two walks. Despite the rough outing on the stat sheet, the southpaw has had a promising start to his pro career, now owning a 4.15 ERA in 13 innings.

The offense was mostly stymied by the Pirates Black squad’s arms, getting rung up eleven times in seven innings. Santiago Contreras would record the team’s lone hit, and the team would score their lone run on a wild pitch. The team went 0-for-6 with runners in scoring position in the loss, stranding six runners.

DSL Padres Brown (Lost 13-5 vs DSL Orioles Black) (1-9 on the season)

Edinson Hernandez – 1.2 IP, 2 H, 4 R, 6 BB, 2 K
Padres Brown starter Edinson Hernandez would not make it out of the second inning, having allowed four runs on two hits and six walks while punching out two, and the Padres Brown’s bullpen would allow nine runs over the remaining 5.1 innings, leading to a 13-5 loss. Hernandez did not have his best stuff, walking six batters and allowing nine baserunners total. Long reliever Dionicio Nova was tagged for six runs in three innings of relief, and Rordy Mejia allowed two runs while recording a single out. The only scoreless outing came from Winyer Chourio, his third shutout appearance of the season.

The offense would have plenty of opportunities to score, walking ten times and getting two baserunners via the hit-by-pitch, but the team would go 1-for-12 with runners in scoring position, leading to them being unable to complete the comeback. Moises Valdez had the biggest hit of the day for the Padres Brown squad with a bases-clearing double, and Juan Martinez would reach in all four plate appearances, twice via walk and twice via hit-by-pitch.
