Padres EVT Podcast: Episode 69 with James & Patrick
Even though the Padres season is in the winter, there is plenty to discuss.
The Padres have hired a new hitting coach, and his name is Matt Stairs. We discuss the addition and we also talk about the addition of Skip Schumaker to the coaching staff.
There were also many transactions completed in the last few days. Tim Melville, Hector Sanchez, and Cory Mazzoni were all released, as the team added Carter Capps, Robbie Erlin, Alex Dickerson, and Colin Rea to their 40-man roster.
Jarred Cosart and Christian Friedrich were also let go, as each pitcher has had arm injuries in recent times.
There are currently two open spots on the 40-man roster, so the team could possibly sign a free agent or make a trade. Stay tuned for that.
We go over some potential off-season signings.
Andrew Cashner, Tyson Ross, and Tyler Chatwood are discussed in depth by the two of us.
The shortstop problem has been an issue for a long time, so we discuss Jurickson Profar. We both are tired of hearing his name linked to the team.
We discuss some on the MLB awards that are currently up for grabs. The MVP, Cy Young, ROY, and Manager of the Year awards will be announced soon.
We end the podcast by speaking about the minor league system and how some are doing with their winter league teams.
