Padres minor league affiliates went 2-2 on Sunday, with two affiliates wrapping up their seasons.
Here is our daily recap of games played.
El Paso Chihuahuas (Won 10-6 vs Salt Lake) (73-64 on the season)
Marcos Castanon – 2-for-4, Double, Single, Four RBI

Yonathan Perlaza – 2-for-5, Home Run, Two RBI
Matt Waldron – 5.1 IP, 9 H, 4 R, 0 BB, 8 K (86 pitches – 60 strikes)
Yonathan Perlaza secured the second 100-RBI season in Chihuahuas history in the Chihuahuas’ 10-6 win in Salt Lake. Perlaza’s career season continues on, as he launched his 18th home run of the season. Marcos Castanon looks right at home in the PCL, as he finished 2-for-4 with two hits and four runs batted in. In his first five games with El Paso, Castanon hit .412 with two homers, nine RBI, and a .500 on-base percentage. Nate Mondou drew three walks, scoring twice in the process. Tirso Ornelas’ two-run single in the ninth inning gave the Chihuahuas a 7-6 lead that would become 10-6 after a five-run ninth.

Matt Waldron struck out eight batters while pitching into the sixth inning. Waldron allowed nine hits and four runs, but only really struggled in the second inning. Waldron has provided consistent innings for a Chihuahuas team chasing down a playoff spot. Francis Pena and Bradgley Rodriguez picked up holds in the sixth and seventh innings, even though both right-handers’ average fastball velocity was between 1-2 mph below their season average. Manuel Castro allowed a two-run homer in the eighth but threw a scoreless ninth to seal the win.
Also of note – Chihuahuas manager Pete Zamora earned his 200th win as a bench boss with the win over Salt Lake, with 137 of those coming as the Chihuahuas’ skipper.
A day of history. Congratulations to Pete Zamora on reaching the 200-win mark as a manager! pic.twitter.com/ZGcXcZ4ppw

San Antonio Missions (Won 7-6 in 11 innings vs Corpus Christi) (63-68 on the season)
Braedon Karpathios – 2-for-4, Home Run, Two RBI
Ryan Jackson – 2-for-5, Walk-off Single
Eric Yost – 4.2 IP, 5 H, 5 R (4 ER), 5 BB, 2 K (70 pitches – 38 strikes)
The Missions gave the 3,892 fans at The Wolff something to smile about when all was said and done, as San Antonio walked off their home finale by a 7-6 final in 11 innings. Braedon Karpathios was one of three Missions hitters with multi-hit efforts, finishing with a home run and RBI single in four at-bats. Devin Ortiz doubled to score a run in the fifth inning, and Christopher Sargent hit into a forceout that scored Ortiz, aided in part by a Hooks throwing error. The game sat at 5-4 going into the ninth inning, where Albert Fabian turned on a low-and-away pitch to right field, tying the score at five runs all.
Eric Yost started for the second time in the series, but this start would not be an encore presentation of his last one (6 IP, 1 R). Yost struggled with his command in the fifth inning, as three of his five walks issued came in the fifth. The fifth also saw the Hooks take a lead, as with the bases loaded and two outs, Joseph Sullivan hit an RBI single to score a run. Pascangel Ferreras hit a line drive to right field for a hit, but the ball went under Damon Dues’ glove, clearing the bases and giving the Hooks a 4-0 lead. One more double later, the score was 5-0, and Yost was out of the game. The Missions bullpen performed admirably, as Ryan Och, Cole Paplham, Kevin Kopps, and Andrew Moore pitched scoreless baseball throughout the rest of regulation. Jose Geraldo pitched two innings of one-run baseball in the tenth and eleventh innings, earning the win. Ryan Jackson stepped up to the plate for the Missions in the bottom of the 11th and singled out of the reach of Hooks second baseman Tommy Sacco Jr, scoring Devin Ortiz to win the game.

Fort Wayne TinCaps (Lost 5-0 vs West Michigan) (56-75 on the season)
Zach Evans – 1-for-4, Single, Stolen Base
Kai Roberts – 1-for-3, Single, Stolen Base
Will Varmette – 4 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 2 BB, 4 K (69 pitches – 44 strikes)
Will Varmette made one of his sharpest starts for the TinCaps, striking out four in four innings of work. The right-hander induced two double plays, surrendering only one earned run against one of the Minor Leagues’ best offenses. For Varmette, he will likely be back with the TinCaps next season, and this start was a sign of the success he can have on the mound. CJ Widger allowed a run on three walks in one inning of work, and Johan Moreno allowed three runs in 1.1 innings of work. Braian Salazar pitched 1.2 innings of relief, recording all five of his outs via the K. The TinCaps’ lineup recorded three hits all game against five Whitecaps pitchers. Zach Evans and Kai Roberts each finished with one base hit and stolen base. Roberts stole his 30th base of the season in the game. Luke Cantwell also finished with a base hit in the loss.
Lake Elsinore Storm (Lost 8-7 vs Inland Empire) (56-76 on the season)
Ty Harvey – 1-for-4, RBI Single
Truitt Madonna – 1-for-5, RBI Single
Tanner Musgrove – 1 IP. 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K (15 pitches – 11 strikes)
Lake Elsinore and Inland Empire closed out the California League regular season with a back-and-forth game. Lake Elsinore took a 2-0 lead in the first inning on RBI singles by Ty Harvey and Truitt Madonna. Tanner Musgrove then fired off a scoreless first inning with one strikeout. Abraham Parra pitched five innings in relief but allowed seven runs on eight hits. Parra fanned six in his outing, walking two. Will Koger pitched two innings of relief, allowing one run on a hit batter and a sac fly, striking out two.
The Lake Elsinore offense was aided by a staggering six errors by the 66ers, scoring seven runs in the game. Yoiber Ocopio reached base on an error in the third, scoring on a groundout by Cardell Thibodeaux. A trio of sixth-inning errors by the 66ers led the Storm to tie the game at six. After Inland Empire took a 7-6 lead in the bottom of the sixth, a fielding error on a ball off the bat of Justin DeCriscio let Ty Harvey score the tying run. Lake Elsinore finished 4-for-18 with runners in scoring position in the loss.
