Padres Down on the Farm: May 23 (TinCaps & Sod Poodles Both walk-off/Storm & El Paso win big)
San Diego Padres affiliates were a perfect 4-0 on Thursday.

El Paso Chihuahuas (30-17) Won 10-4
Funky left-handed pitcher Kyle McGrath made a surprise start in El Paso on Thursday and was effective. He went four innings without allowing an earned run. McGrath was given plenty of run support, as the Chihuahuas scored four runs in the first and four in the third to take a commanding 8-0 lead. Jacob Scavuzzo slugged his 14th homer of the year in the win for El Paso. Francisco Mejia started behind the plate and went 2-for-4. The catcher could be close to being activated by the Padres. Andres Munoz made another appearance and was perfect, throwing eight pitches and striking out a batter.

Amarillo Sod Poodles (21-24) Won 5-4
The Soddies rallied for two runs in the bottom of the ninth as Owen Miller singled home Rodrigo Orozco for the 5-4 win over the RockHounds. Early in the inning, Ivan Castillo singled home Buddy Reed to tie the game at four. Kyle Lloyd earned the win in relief, pitching 1.2 innings of scoreless ball. Emmanuel Ramirez made a start for Amarillo and went 7.1 innings, allowing two earned runs. The right-hander struck out seven in the game. Brad Zunica is heating up, as he went 3-for-4 in the game with two doubles. Leadoff hitter Rodrigo Orozco recorded two hits in the victory. The Sod Podles recorded 14 hits in the game but left ten on base.

Lake Elsinore Storm (22-22) Won 5-1
The Lake Elsinore Storm cranked out 11 hits in a 5-1 win over the Stockton Ports. Ronald Bolanos was on the mound and was solid for the home team. The Cuban right-hander went six innings, allowing one earned run. The bullpen of Elliot Ashbeck, Hansel Rodriguez and J.C. Cosme were perfect in relief. Gabriel Arias was the hitting star, recording three hits including his fourth homer of the year. Three other Storm players recorded multiple hits in the win. Luis Campusano batted fourth and slugged his fourth homer on the year in the first inning to get Lake Elsinore going.

Fort Wayne TinCaps (21-23) Won 3-2
Tucupita Marcano singled home the winning run in the ninth with nobody out for the sweep of the South Bend Cubs on Thursday. The TinCaps outscored the Cubs 16-4 in the four-game series sweep. Fort Wayne has gotten some impressive pitching performances this week. Gabe Mosser, Ryn Weathers, Ramon Perez, and company have all performed well. On Thursday, Joey Cantillo was also solid going five innings and only allowing one run to score. He struck out six in the game. Blake Hunt has been struggling at the plate but hit his third homer of the season in the fifth inning. Henry Henry earned the win out of the pen and is now 5-0 on the season with a 2.36 ERA. The TinCaps’ pitching staff is really deep.
