Padres Down on the Farm: May 11 (Gillaspie, Schmitt earn Pitcher of the Week awards)
El Paso Chihuahuas

Padres minor league affiliates went 0-1 on Monday. Here is our daily recap of games played.
El Paso Chihuahuas – No Game
While the Chihuahuas had an off-day on Monday, right-hander Logan Gillaspie was named the Pacific Coast League Pitcher of the Week. Gillaspie made three appearances against Tacoma last week, striking out three in 5.1 scoreless innings of work. The accolade was the right-hander’s first PCL award.

San Antonio Missions – No Game
The Missions continue their homestand, hosting the Wichita Wind Surge for six games starting Tuesday. A fun storyline from this series is the Salas brothers facing off against each other. Ethan Salas, the Missions’ starting catcher, will face off against his older brother Jose, who plays the infield for Wichita.

Fort Wayne TinCaps – No Game
The TinCaps are on the road this week, taking on the Cedar Rapids Kernels (Minnesota High-A). Matt Watson makes his second career start in the opener, set for a 4:35 first pitch.
Lake Elsinore Storm – No Game
The Lake Elsinore Storm return to their home ballpark to face off with the visiting Rancho Cucamonga Quakes (Angels Single-A). In other news, right-hander Tyler Schmitt was named the California League Pitcher of the Week for the second consecutive week. Schmitt allowed one hit in six innings of scoreless baseball on May 9, earning him the honors. The right-hander has not allowed an earned run in May.

ACL Padres (Lost 4-3 vs ACL Angels in 10 innings) (3-4 on the season)
Ty Harvey – 1-for-4, RBI Single
Eduarlin Tejeda – 1-for-3, RBI Single
Cameron Nohos – 3.2 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 2 K
The Padres and Angels played nine, but needed bonus baseball to decide who would emerge victorious. Ty Harvey got the Padres on the board in the third inning with an RBI single. Harvey was 1-for-4 with the RBI single and a run scored, catching nine innings. It is not yet known how much longer Harvey may need on rehab assignment, but seeing him get through a game in regulation behind the dish is a major step on the way back to being 100%. Eduarlin Tejeda drove in a run on an RBI single as well.
Ty Harvey scored the game-tying run in the eighth on a wild pitch. Yimy Tovar hit a double and walked into the game. Opener Luis Maracara pitched one inning, allowing three unearned runs. A two-out error from Tovar allowed an RBI double followed by a two-run home run by Anthony Santa Cruz de Oviedo. Cameron Nohos pitched 3.2 innings in long relief, striking out two and walking none. The 6-foot-8 right-hander out of Illinois-Chicago is likely to be stretched out early on in the season, so look for him to make the return to Lake Elsinore at some point this season. Yoesmerli Beltre pitched a scoreless 1.1 innings, and Dalvi Nunez pitched two scoreless innings in relief, fanning two. Bernard Jose threw a scoreless ninth but allowed an RBI triple in the tenth, taking the loss.
