El Paso Chihuahuas (24-11) Lose 2-1 in Albuquerque
The cliff notes for this game would read: a couple of early pitching mistakes followed up by only two players showing up to hit lead to a 2-1 loss for the Chihuahuas.
Dillon Overton had his fourth start of the season, going seven strong innings for El Paso. He allowed two solo home runs, a first pitch solo blast in the first followed by a 2-0 solo shot in the second inning. Those two runs would be the only runs allowed in the game for the Isotopes.
Tyler Higgins came in the eighth and finished off the game for El Paso striking out two and allowing two hits in his two-innings pitched.
At the plate, the Chihuahuas connected on just five hits, three of which came from Luis Urias. Urias, trying to force the Padres hand at a promotion, finished the night 3-4 with a solo blast in the 3rd inning that would wind up being El Paso’s only run of the game.
The Chihuahuas fall to 24-11 on the season, splitting the series 2-2 with the Albuquerque Isotopes.

Amarillo Sod Poodles (13-19) Lose 9-2 in Corpus Christi
The Sod Poodles drop their second straight game to the Corpus Christi Hooks.
T.J. Weir took the mound to start the game and gave up two runs in the bottom of the first inning despite the Sod Poodles striking early in the top of the first. He went on to finish the fourth inning in which he allowed four more runs to bring his earned run total to six on the night.
Darius Valdes came up in the fifth and allowed three quick runs in just 0.2 innings of work. The 23-year-old has now allowed 17 runs (15 ER) in just 12 innings of work this season.
Owen Miller got Amarillo off to a good start doubling in the top of the first that brought Edward Olivares to the plate for the first run of the game.
Brad Zunica added some more offense with a solo blast to right field in the eighth inning.

Lake Elsinore Storm (16-19) Win 6-4 against the San Jose Giants
The Storm took game one of the series in which they played host to the San Jose Giants.
Lake Bachar took the mound for the Storm; he finished the game with six innings pitched. He allowed four total runs, just two of which were earned; he struck out seven and allowed just two walks.
Steven Wilson got the win in this one; he went two strong innings allowing just one hit and striking out five. The 24-year-old, drafted in round eight of 2018 by SD, lowered his ERA on the season to an impressive 1.47.
As far as offense goes, we had quite a few active bats at the plate tonight at The Diamond. Allen Cordoba, Jeisson Rosario, and Tirso Ornelas all combined for seven of the Storm’s ten hits on the night.

Fort Wayne TinCaps (15-18) Win 4-1 against the Beloit Snappers
Joey Cantillo, the 19-year-old left-hander out of Hawaii, had an impressive start on the mound; he went 5.1 innings strong allowing just one earned run and striking out five.
Fort Wayne jumped on top early going up 1-0 in the fourth with a sac-fly to right field by Nick Feight that brought Grant Little to the plate. It was in the bottom of the 6th however that Marcos Brito of the Snappers drove in a run on his sac-fly.
It wouldn’t be until the top of the ninth when Lee Solomon cracked a line drive single to left field with the bases loaded to break the tie and put the TinCaps up 2-1. One wild pitch would score another run and put two runners in scoring position allowing Xavier Edwards to score the two with a soft liner to left field.
Fort Wayne moves to 15-19 on the season and takes a 2-0 series lead on Beloit.
