Alex Morgan ranks in the top 10 in USWNT history for goals and assists, with 123 goals and 55 assists in 224 appearances.
Morgan retired from her professional soccer career on September 8th, 2024, with a ceremonial exit during her last game for the Wave. She retires as the leading all-time scorer and assist leader for the club team, with 28 goals and 11 assists. When she retired, she said she planned to invest more in women’s sports.
Morgan has been a champion for women’s sports and contributed to San Diego Wave’s success as one of the most successful women’s sports franchises. Alex Morgan said in a statement, “I believed in Wave FC before a single match was played, and I still believe this Club has the power to change the future of women’s sports. I’m proud to invest in that future and not just as a player, but now as an investor.”
The fan-favorite USWNT and Wave star has been missed on the pitch, but her continued contribution to the club and women’s sports strengthens her legacy and impact beyond the game.
