San Diego Padres’ affiliates went 0-3 on Monday.
Here is a recap of games played.
El Paso Chihuahuas – Off Day
El Paso opens a six-game series facing Albuquerque on the road. Left-hander Miguel Cienfuegos is set to join El Paso’s rotation, per team announcer Tim Hagerty.

LHP Miguel Cienfuegos takes Waldron’s spot in the@epchihuahuas rotation, which means El Paso’s five-man rotation is now all lefties! Very rare. https://t.co/8YibW81rt8

ACL Padres (Lost 13-8 vs ACL Dodgers) (10-32 on the season)
Yoiber Ocopio – 1-for-4, Two-Run Double
Jesmaylin Arias – 2-for-5, Double, Two RBI
Jesus Lopez – 1.1 IP, 6 H, 9 R, 2 BB, 0 K
The good news: the ACL Padres scored eight runs on nine hits against the ACL Dodgers, drawing eight walks in the game. The team as a whole also stole five bases, not being caught once. Jesmaylin Arias drove in two runs on an RBI double, and Gustavo Marquez finished with two singles, one driving in a run. Jose Sanabria (not related to Romeo) singled and recorded two runs batted in. Yoiber Ocopio had the team’s most ferocious swing, scoring two runners on an RBI double that was feet from going out. Ocopio also threw out three baserunners behind the plate.
The not-as-good news? The Padres’ pitching staff allowed 13 runs. Starter Jesus Lopez failed to exit the second inning, recording only four outs and allowing nine runs. Lopez failed to record a strikeout, walking two and allowing six hits. Jimmy Reyes and Elvis Reyes (again, no relation) each threw scoreless baseball, with Jimmy striking out four in 1.2 innings and Elvis striking out three in two innings. Roberto Burgos allowed three runs in 1.1 innings, and Xavier Ruiz allowed one run in 1.2 innings in his first appearance with the ACL Padres since being reassigned last week.
DSL Padres Gold (Lost 6-3 vs DSL Astros Blue) (12-8 on the season)
Jose Verdugo – 2-for-5, Double, Single, Two RBI
Eddson Martinez – 2-for-4, Two Singles, Run Scored
Dalvi Nunez – 2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 4 K
Jose Verdugo continues to be a strong performer for the DSL Padres Gold. Verdugo had two hits and drove in two runs for the Padres Gold and has now posted a 144 wRC+ this season. Eddson Martinez had two base hits as well, and has now reached base at a .425 rate this season, one of the highest marks on the team. Jhoan De La Cruz finished with a base hit and a walk in four plate appearances. On the mound, Dalvi Nunez tossed two innings of scoreless baseball, lowering his season ERA to 3.52. Nunez has fanned an impressive 27.9% of opposing batters this season. Edwyn Hernandez struck out three in three innings of work, allowing two runs. Jose Blanco took the loss, having allowed four runs in 1.2 innings of relief.
DSL Padres Brown (Lost 7-0 vs DSL Tampa Bay) (11-8 on the season)
Kaden Hernandez – 1-for-3, Single
Endy Rios – 1-for-3, Single
Oliver Franco – 3 IP, 5 H, 7 R (6 ER), 4 BB, 3 K
Oliver Franco had the roughest start of his brief pro career, allowing seven runs in three innings of work. One of the seven runs was unearned, but Franco struggled at locating his stuff, walking four batters. Gensy Aquino appeared in relief, tossing three scoreless innings with four strikeouts. Kaden Hernandez and Endy Rios had the Padres Brown’s lone base hits, both hitting one single. Tom Guerrero drew two walks in the game.

I agree that the Padres should sell a few players before the deadline. The first person to go though should be Preller.
