Padres affiliates went 6-1 on Tuesday.

Let’s jump into the day’s events. 

El Paso Chihuahuas (Won 11-7 vs Las Vegas) (43-53 on the season)

Nick Solak – 2-for-4, Home Run, Four RBI

Blake Hunt – 1-for-5, Home Run, Two RBI

Sean Boyle – 4.2 IP, 6 H, 3 R, 1 BB, 4 K (83 pitches – 58 strikes)

In the hitter’s paradise of Las Vegas Ballpark, El Paso scored 11 runs to take a series-opening win. Nick Solak went 2-for-4 with a home run, driving in four runs for the team. Blake Hunt reached on a fielder’s choice to open the scoring, with an RBI single from Bryce Johnson tying the game at two. Hunt scored on a passed ball to give El Paso a 3-2 lead. Solak’s fifth-inning home run gave El Paso a 5-3 lead and command of the game. El Paso scored three times in the sixth, with Blake Hunt’s solo home run accounting for one of three runs. Dustin Harris went 4-for-6 in the game with four singles and an RBI. Solak’s two-run triple scored the tenth and eleventh runs of the contest for the Chihuahuas, who went 6-for-17 with runners in scoring position. 

Sean Boyle pitched into the fifth inning, allowing three runs. Boyle struck out four while walking one, with five of 14 outs coming via the ground ball. El Paso’s starter gave the team length (by PCL standards), and with a rested bullpen, the team was in a good position after Boyle’s start. Logan Gillaspie earned the win with 1.1 scoreless innings. Jeremiah Estrada, whose rehab assignment was transferred to El Paso, recorded one out while walking two batters. Estrada was not charged with a run, as Johan Moreno recorded a double play to end the inning. Moreno was back for the eighth, getting one out. He allowed four runs on two walks and two hits in the inning. Andrew Moore picked up three outs, with two outs coming via the ground ball. Alek Jacob recorded the final two outs, earning the save. 

San Antonio Missions (Won 7-5 vs Frisco) (42-49 on the season)

Ethan Salas – 2-for-4, Double, RBI

Braedon Karpathios – 2-for-4, Two Singles, RBI

Eric Yost – 4 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 1 BB, 5 K (76 pitches – 47 strikes)

The Missions rode a four-run third inning to a win over the visiting RoughRiders. Ethan Salas went 2-for-4 in the game, driving in one run on an RBI double in the third inning. Salas reached base three times in the win, also hitting a single and drawing a walk. Carson Tucker hit two singles, driving in two runs for the Missions out of the leadoff spot. Tirso Ornelas went 1-for-3 with an RBI double and a walk. For Ornelas, his RBI double was his 24th double of the season, matching his total from 2024 in 46 fewer games. His 114 wRC+ is his best since his rookie-league debut campaign back in 2017. Braedon Karpathios picked up two singles, driving in one run. Karpathios picked up his first multi-hit effort since July 11 at Midland. Francisco Acuna launched a two-run home run in the sixth inning, his fifth of the season. Albert Fabian had two hits for a second consecutive game, scoring two runs. 

Eric Yost threw four innings of two-run baseball in the game, striking out five batters. Yost generated 11 swings and misses from Frisco’s lineup, and he allowed just two runs. The right-hander showed stronger command of his breaking ball and newfound changeup, despite allowing a hit on the changeup. Yost has definitely put himself in consideration for the MLB team in 2027, and with his blend of pitchability and command, could very well be a name to watch for come the spring. Bernard Jose allowed a solo home run in two innings, earning the victory. Josh Mallitz struck out two batters in two scoreless innings of relief, bridging the Missions into the ninth. Clay Edmondson struggled with his command in the ninth inning, walking three and allowing a base hit. Harry Gustin entered with the bases loaded, allowing one inherited runner to score but nothing further. Gustin retired three of four batters faced to earn the save. 

Fort Wayne TinCaps (Won 7-6 vs Lake County) (38-52 on the season)

Alex McCoy – 2-for-5, Walk-off RBI Single

Jack Costello – 2-for-4, Home Run, Two RBI

Kannon Kemp – 2.1 IP, 3 H, 3 R, 2 BB, 2 K (48 pitches – 30 strikes)  

Right-hander Kannon Kemp started his second game since joining the TinCaps, pitching 2.1 innings of three-run baseball. Kemp struck out two batters against the Captains, walking two. The TinCaps have played Kemp’s ramp-up slowly to get him stretched out after he missed most of the first half with an oblique injury. Nick Falter allowed an inherited runner to score but promptly generated a double play to end the third inning with no further damage. Maikel Miralles entered in the fourth inning, with the team aiming to get 3-4 innings from Miralles. The plan did not go as planned, as Miralles allowed eight baserunners in one-plus innings, issuing five walks. Javier Chacon allowed two inherited runners to score but nothing more in two innings of relief. Chacon and Will Koger clutched up when the team was chipping away; Koger struck out four in two scoreless innings to keep the Captains at bay. Luis German earned the win with a scoreless ninth inning of relief. 

Fort Wayne was held scoreless by Captains starter Harrison Bodendorf, but the TinCaps were able to claw out of a 6-0 deficit to win via walk-off. Kavares Tears got the team on the board with an RBI groundout, with Justin DeCriscio crossing the plate. Jack Costello launched his 11th home run of the season in the seventh inning, his 21st with the TinCaps. With two outs in the eighth, Rosman Verdugo tripled to score Kavares Tears. Lamar King Jr walked, and a wild pitch allowed Verdugo to score. Jack Costello lined a single to right field to score Verdugo, and ran towards second base on the throw home. Costello was called out by the base umpire on what was a bang-bang play; while he tried to plead his case, Costello was quickly ejected by first base umpire Brendan Auman. In the ninth, Fort Wayne trailed by one with the bottom of the order coming up. Zach Evans reached on a walk, and Kasen Wells moved him to second base on a sacrifice bunt. With two outs, Ryan Wideman singled on a ground ball to the right side of the infield,  and when second baseman Welbyn Francisca fielded the ball, Evans ran through the stop sign, scoring the tying run. Wideman moved to second on the throw home, and that was critical for the next at-bat. Alex McCoy grounded a single up the middle past a diving shortstop, and Wideman scored without a throw home to win the game. 

Lake Elsinore Storm (Won 8-7 vs Visalia) (47-44 on the season)
Yimy Tovar – 2-for-4, Two Singles, Four RBI

Qrey Lott – 2-for-3, Two Singles, Three Stolen Bases

Jesus A. Castro – 4 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 5 BB, 5 K (75 pitches – 39 strikes)

Jesus A. Castro pitched four scoreless innings as the Storm rallied back to win 8-7 at home. Castro walked five and struck out five in four innings, allowing just one base hit. Castro’s outing can be filed in the “effectively wild” category due to the five walks, but only picked up seven swings and misses. Rordy Mejia allowed a three-run home run in the fifth inning, his only inning of work. Jordan Valenzuela allowed a three-run home run while picking up two outs in the sixth inning. Yoesmerli Beltre was the winning pitcher in the game, and rightfully so, as the right-hander pitched 2.1 scoreless innings. Cal Riehl allowed one run in the ninth, earning his first Storm save. 

The Storm’s winning formula was not power, but rather their tried and true formula of “Storming” and chaosball. Lake Elsinore went 8-for-10 on stolen bases, with the duo of Qrey Lott and Dawson Willis picking up three stolen bases each. Yimy Tovar had two singles, driving in four runs for the Storm. Tovar hit a two-run single in the seventh and had himself an encore presentation in the eighth to give the team an 8-6 lead. Dawson Willis scored two runs, and Conner Westenburg stole two bases in the game, scoring one run. 

ACL Padres (Won 8-2 vs ACL Royals) (33-25 on the season)

Ty Harvey – 2-for-3, Home Run, Four RBI

Jesmaylin Arias – 1-for-3, Double, Walk

Jeronimo Palmeros – 4 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 2 BB, 3 K

Ty Harvey drove in four runs as the ACL Padres took a dominant win down in the Arizona heat. Harvey, who is working his way back from a hand injury, homered in the win. His three-run home run put the Padres in front for good. Truitt Madonna, fresh off being reassigned to the ACL, drove in one run with a sacrifice fly. Jesmaylin Arias drove in a run with an RBI double, also stealing home in the win. Eddson Martinez doubled and scored a run in the win, and Jhoan De La Cruz went 1-for-3 with a single. Jeronimo Palmeros went four innings as the starter, allowing two runs on four hits. Palmeros struck out three batters in the win, picking up four outs on ground balls. Ryan Reed earned the win with two scoreless innings of relief, striking out two. Julio Dilone made yet another scoreless appearance, striking out three in a scoreless seventh. 

DSL Padres Gold (Won 2-1 in 8 innings vs DSL Red Sox Red) (26-10 on the season)

Cristian Benavides – 1-for-3, RBI Single

Dayquer Alfonzo – 2-for-4, RBI Double

Carlos Alvarez – 5 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 5 K

Left-hander Carlos Alvarez allowed just one hit in five scoreless innings, striking out five batters. The southpaw was effective and in command, as he only walked two. Alvarez has shown significant signs of growth in his second professional season, averaging close to four innings per start compared to his 2025 season (1.91 IP per start). Joseph Uzeta allowed one run in 1.2 innings. Albieris Polanco earned the win, pitching 1.1 innings of scoreless relief. Cristian Benavides singled in the Padres’ first run in the second inning, scoring Darian Castillo. Castillo stole two bases in the game, while Benavides, Angel Mejia, and Timothy Mogen each stole one base. Dayquer Alfonzo went 2-for-4 in the game, with his eighth-inning double scoring Endy Rios to win the game. 

DSL Padres Brown (Lost 4-0 vs DSL CLE Mendoza) (7-28 on the season)

Gabriel Teran – 0-for-1, Two Walks

Berman Moreno – 0-for-0, Walk

Randy Soto – 3 IP, 4 H, 3 R (1 ER), 3 BB, 4 K 

The DSL Padres Brown were no-hit by the DSL CLE Mendoza on Tuesday. Gabriel Teran drew two of the Padres’ Brown’s six walks, but the team was unable to get a base hit, much less a run. Berman Moreno walked in his only plate appearance, and Jeanfranco Fernandez drew a walk as well. On the bump, Randy Soto threw three innings of three-run baseball. Only one of three runs allowed by Soto was earned, and he struck out four batters in his start. Valentin Perez threw three innings of one-run baseball, striking out two.
