Padres Down On The Farm: August 15 (Wagner homers for EP/Acuna’s multi-hit night for SA)
El Paso Chihuahuas

Padres minor league affiliates went 2-4 on Friday
Here is our daily recap of games played
El Paso Chihuahuas (Won 7-5 vs. Reno) (65-52 on the season)
Will Wagner – 2-for-4, RBI, 2 RBI Singles
Luis Campusano – 2-for-3, 2 BB, RBI, Run Scored

Matt Waldron – 5.o IP, 7 H, 5 R, 6 K,
On the road against the Aces, El Paso came up with its fourth straight win of the series. Knuckleballer Matt Waldron made the start, and his rough month of August continued. Waldron surrendered five runs, with two coming in the sixth inning before he could record an out. He did pick up six strikeouts, punching out rehabbers Gabriel Moreno and Pavin Smith, as well as top prospect Jordan Lawlar.
A three-run homer from Will Wagner powered the Chihuahuas out to a 5-2 lead early on. They faced Bryce Jarvis, who allowed five runs on eight hits across two and a third innings. Tyler Wade and Trenton Brooks provided the two other early runs, as they both hit RBI groundouts. However, the Aces rallied, scoring a run in the fifth, and two more in the sixth to knot up the game at five a side.

It would be until the ninth inning that either side broke the tie. In the top half, doubles from Tyler Wade and Yonathan Perlaza put the Chihuahuas on top 6-5, and shortly after, Luis Campusano added to his phenomenal series with an insurance-run single. He went 2-3 on the night with a pair of walks, continuing his dominant stretch of games
San Antonio Missions (Lost 8-5 vs. Tulsa) (55-57 on the season)
Francisco Acuna– 3-for-3, BB, Run Scored
Albert Fabian– 3-for-4, BB, 2 RBI Singles,
Jagger Haynes – 0.2 IP, 2 H, 3 R, 2 BB, 2 K
Both squads combined for seven runs in the first inning, as both starters were chased after two-thirds of an inning. San Antonio’s Jagger Haynes was tagged with three runs, as Tulsa’s Roque Gutierrez was charged with four. The Missions scored four times on four singles in the first inning, with Albert Fabian, Marcos Castañon, Moisés Gómez, and Oswaldo Linares all getting in on the RBI action.

However, after the loud first inning, both clubs went silent until the sixth inning. Fabian added his second RBI single of the ballgame in the sixth, but the Drillers responded quickly. Griffin Lockwood-Powell scorched a two-run double to tie the score, followed by a lead-taking single from Taylor Young. The three runs came against Jared Kollar, who was tasked with covering four and two-thirds innings after Haynes’ departure.
Interestingly enough, the Missions actually outhit the Drillers 13-to-7. However, they issued nine walks to Tulsa’s batters, allowing them to drive in seven runs on the night. Kollar ended up taking the loss, as he fell to 1-7 on the year at Double-A.
Fort Wayne TinCaps (Lost 5-1 vs. West Michigan) (39-38 on the season)
Kasen Wells – 1-for-2, BB, RBI
Jack Costello – 1-for-3
Isaiah Lowe – 4.0 IP, 9 H, 4 ER, 3 BB, 2 K
Isaiah Lowe didn’t have his best stuff today, as he was hit hard by Whitecaps batters. He allowed a home run in the third inning to Izaac Pachecho, his 11th home run allowed on the season. He also allowed a double in the second to Garret Pennington, among seven singles sprinkled throughout his four frames. Lowe, the Padres’ No. 26 prospect, has been on the decline, as he recorded his tenth loss on the season. His ERA is now up to to 5.81 after today’s action.
Fort Wayne’s offense collected just two hits in 28 at-bats, as Kasen Wells and Jack Costello were able to muster a single apiece. However, the TinCaps drew eight walks, putting consistent pressure on the WhiteCaps pitchers. They struck out eight times as well, though, killing opportunities that were handed to them. Additionally, Kasen Wells was thrown out trying to nab second base
On the other side, Izaac Pachecho was the difference-maker for West Michigan in this one. His two-run homer gave the WhiteHeads some breathing room. They compiled 12 hits to formulate five runs, all in the first five innings. The Fort Wayne bullpen kept the deficit where it was for the most part. Archer Brookman got to Ruben Gallindo in the fifth, and that was all that West Michigan needed.
Lake Elsinore Storm (Lost 12-1 to San Jose) (51-61 on the season)
Kavares Tears – 2-for-3, BB, Double, Stolen Base
Alex McCoy – 1-for-3, BB, Run Scored
Maikel Miralles – 4.1 IP, 9 H, 5 R, 2 K
Maikel Miralles pitched a clean outing through four innings, but struggled in the fifth. He allowed all five of his runs in the frame on three RBI singles, a walk, and a hit by pitch. However, the ninth inning was the real laugher inning for the Storm. Against reliever Winyer Chourio, the Giants plated six more runs on four hits, two walks, and two run-scoring errors.
On the bright side for the Storm, the organization’s No. 17 prospect Kavares Tears had himself a great game. He came up with two opposite-field knocks, a double and a single. He also swiped a bag in the first, but was thrown out trying to steal in the fourth. Other notable prospects, Kale Fountain and Jorge Quintana, combined for five strikeouts, in what was a brutal night for the Storm at the plate.
DSL Padres Gold (Won 4-1 vs. DSL Guardians Mendoza) (37-16 on the season)
Moises Valdez – 1-4, Two-Run Triple
Jhoan De La Cruz – 1-3, BB, 2 Runs Scored
Raymel Belliard– 4.2 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 3 K
Moises Valdez continued his impressive season at the dish, boosting his OPS to .858 with his triple. The DSL Guardians drew first blood in the fifth, plating a run on a sacrifice fly. However, Edwyn Hernandez came on in relief of the starter Belliard, throwing two and a third key scoreless innings to keep the DSL Padres in the game. In the seventh inning, Valdez’s two-out triple flipped the scoreboard, making it 2-1. A pair of defensive miscues by the DSL Guardians added two runs of insurance. The DSL Padres’ pitching staff ceased to allow an earned run on the day, as the DSL Padres held firm in first place of the DSL Northwest Division.
DSL Padres Brown (Lost 3-2 vs. DSL Orioles Black) (18-34 on the season)
Gabriel Teran – 2-3, RBI Single
Angel Mejia – 2-3, Double, Run Scored
Ariel Dilone – 3.0 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 4 BB, 3 K
The DSL Padres’ starter, Ariel Dilone, kept the DSL Orioles off the board across his three innings of work. Even though he put four runners on, he danced around the DSL Orioles lineup with three strikeouts. The DSL Padres were able to amass nine hits and a walk, but failed to convert the chances into more than just two runs, and only one earned run. Gabriel Tearn knocked an RBI single in the second, and Tom Guerrero added a sacrifice fly, giving the DSL Padres a 2-0 lead. However, Victor Pilar and Angel Sanchez allowed an earned run each, and a critical error from Yonaiker Hernandez proved to be the difference, as the DSL Orioles took the 3-2 win.
