The Padres Gold swept their doubleheader over the DSL Royals Ventura, kicking off the day with a 10-6 win. Moises Valdez had three hits and an RBI, scoring two runs. Jhoan De La Cruz tripled and a single with two RBI. Jose Verdugo, making his first in-game appearance since July 10, had an RBI single in his lone at-bat.
Dalvi Nunez pitched 3.2 innings, striking out four batters. While Nunez’s run-prevention numbers haven’t been the most striking, Nunez has held opposing batters to a .195 batting average. Miguel Alvarez allowed two inherited runners to score, also surrendering a run of his own. Edwyn Hernandez earned the win with two scoreless innings, and Jeferson Villabona ended the game despite allowing one run in the seventh.

Moises Valdez – 3-for-4, Home Run, Two RBI
Alexander Garcia – 1-for-3, RBI Double
Josias Figuereo – 2 IP, 5 H, 3 R (2 ER), 1 BB, 2 K
The Padres Gold scored five early and four runs late to sweep the doubleheader. Moises Valdez was the team’s sparkplug at the top of the lineup, hitting his first career homer and driving in two runs. Valdez also scored three runs and swiped his 26th base of the season. Abraham Bastidas drove in a run on a double in his lone AB of the game. Alexander Garcia, who took over for Bastidas, finished 1-for-3 with an RBI double. Eduarlin Tejeda doubled and scored two runs. Eddson Martinez had two hits and drove in a run as well.
Josias Figuereo was one of three pitchers to throw for the Padres Gold. Figuereo allowed five hits and three runs in his two innings of work, striking out two. It was his shortest outing since July 18. Johan Minaya struck out five in 2.1 innings, walking four but allowing only one run. Florangel Vasquez earned the win with 2.2 hitless innings, striking out seven of eight batters faced.

Burciaga struck out two batters in four innings, allowing only two runs on three hits. Sebastian Pena had a double and a walk-in the loss, and both Jose Bericoto and Cristian Benavides had stolen bases. Angel Sanchez took the loss with two innings of one-run baseball, striking out one.
