Friar Faithful Podcast: Lineup Construction Moving Forward in 2019
The Friar Faithful Podcast returns, talking about the team’s lineup construction for the remainder of the 2019 season.Â
In this quick episode of the Friar Faithful Podcast, Deegs talks about what he would like to see the lineup construction look like for the remainder of the 2019 season.
He gives a player-by-player breakdown of who he wants to see batting in which spot against both right-handed pitchers and left-handed pitchers.
With Fernando Tatis Jr. out for the remainder of the regular season, Deegs strongly advocates for Luis Urias to take over the leadoff spot as the season unwinds. Likely a piece of the team’s future, Urias needs the experience at the major league level as the team leadoff hitter.
He also highlights certain platoons he wants to see, including a Wil Myers-Travis Jankowski split and Josh Naylor getting some playing time over Hunter Renfroe.
Towards the end of the show, Deegs talks about Austin Hedges’ recent comments and his role with the team, as well as explaining some of the organization’s catching depth.
