The San Diego State men’s basketball program just earned a second commitment in as many days.

This time, coming from St. John Bosco, 6-foot-5 guard Elzie Harrington out of Bellflower, California.

Harrington announced his commitment Wednesday afternoon.

This commitment from Harrington ends the Aztecs’ potential at getting any portal or high school additions because all 13 scholarship spots are filled. This will be the second high school commit, along with Heritage Christian forward Tae Simmons.

Last summer, Harrington was committed to Harvard, which was highly significant for the Ivy League.

On December 31, before the calendar year turned, Harrington flipped to USC.

I'd like this amount to

Harrington has stated publicly that he wants to stay closer to home. The reason behind this is to be closer to his father, who has been battling glioblastoma brain cancer. Harrington publicly stated that family comes first and that he can’t play basketball without his family.

Not only does Harrington get to stay close to home, but he is coming to a program known for its closeness and family-like culture, a place where players feel at home even away from their natural environment.

Harrington has an extremely high floor and high ceiling as a player. He can shoot well off the catch, is great at finishing at the rim, and is amazing at playing at his own pace.

Aztec fans could see some similarities in Harrington with a player already on the Mesa in Taj DeGourville. Harrington will likely be a redshirt candidate, along with Tae Simmons, coming into the 2025-26 basketball season.
