San Diego Padres affiliates went 2-2 on Thursday.

Here is a recap of the day’s events.

El Paso Chihuahuas (Lost 8-5 to Sugar Land) (13-17 on the season)

El Paso got out to a 5-0 lead in the game through the first three innings but never scored again as the Chihuahuas slowly coughed up the lead. Randy Vasquez started the game and allowed four earned runs in 3.2 innings pitched. Nate Mondou was the hitting star in the game as he slugged his third homer of the season and drove in four runs in his first two at-bats of the game. Matt Batten went 2-for-4 in the loss, and Donovan Solano went 1-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored.

I'd like this amount to

San Antonio Missions (12-11 on the season)

Postponed Rain

Fort Wayne TinCaps (DOUBLE-HEADER) Won 3-0 and 3-1 over Lake County

Game 1 (3-1)

Kai Murphy– (2-for-3) 3B, 2B, Run

Tyler Morgan– 3 IP, 3 H, 1 ER, 3 BB, K (62 pitches- 36 strikes)

Manuel Castro– 2 IP, K, Save (25 pitches- 16 strikes)

In a game made up from April 11, Kai Murphy led the TinCaps to a 3-1 win. The son of Pat Murphy doubled and tripled in three at-bats batting lead-off for Fort Wayne. Murphy owns a .808 OPS so far this season. Tyler Morgan started the game, and the 23-year-old right-handed pitcher went three innings, striking out a batter in 62 pitches. Joan Gonzalez earned the win by pitching in relief. Manuel Castro earned his third save of the year in the win.

Game 2 (3-0)Ā

Albert Fabian– (2-for-3) SB

Nik McClaughry– (2-for-2) 2B, 2 Runs, BB

Miguel Cienfuegos– Complete Game Shutout- 7 IP, 2 H, 5 K’s (73 pitches- 54 strikes)

Left Miguel Cienfuegos was dominant on Thursday as he threw a complete game shutout in a seven-inning game that followed the early makeup game. The Southpaw has great stuff and is a bit old for the Midwest League. At the age of 27, it is safe to say he should be in Texas very soon pitching for the upper echelon of the Padres minor league system. Albert Fabian went 2-for-3 in the win, and shortstop Nik McClaughry went 2-for-2 with a double.

Lake Elsinore Storm (Lost 4-2 to San Jose) (9-13 on the season)

Jose Sanabria– (1-for-3)

Carlos Rodriguez– (1-for-3) 2B, Run, K

Harry Gustin– 4 IP, 6 H, 4 R, 2 BB, 2 K (71 pitches- 45 strikes)

Lake Elsinore lost to San Jose as the offense simply could not get going. The Storm managed only three hits in the game and two walks. If not for two late runs in the 8th inning, they could have been potentially shut out. Jose Sanabria, Carlos Rodriguez, and Jay Beshears recorded the hits in the game for Lake Elsinore. Beshears still continues to produce as the third baseman owns a .964 OPS so far in the Cal League.
