San Diego Padres affiliates went 1-3 on Tuesday.

El Paso Chihuahuas (Won 8-6 over Sugar Land) (12-16 on the season)

Tirso Ornelas– (3-for-5) HR, 3B, 3 RBI, 3 Runs

Donovan Solano– (2-for-5) 2B, Run, RBI, 2 K

Tim Locastro– (1-for-3) Run, 2 RBI, 2 SB, K

Jackson Wolf– 5 IP, 4 H, ER, 2 BB, 10 K (91 pitches- 59 strikes)

Longtime Padres prospect Tirso Ornelas is starting to show signs of life and could debut with the major league team at some point this season. The native of Tijuana possesses a pretty swing, and it is nice to see him find consistency. The 24-year-old recorded three hits on Tuesday, including his second homer of the season (which was a walk-off in the bottom of the 9th). Veteran Tim Locastro stole two bases and drove in two runs in the win. Donovan Solano continues to swing a healthy bat in Triple-A, and the 36-year-old could be an option for the team in time.

Jackson Wolf stuck out 10 in the game for El Paso. The lefty shows some potential with his funky delivery and motion. The Padres claimed the pitcher off waivers from the Pirates earlier this month. Logan Gillaspie blew the save late for the Chihuahuas but did earn a win on Ornelas’ homer in the bottom of the 9th.

San Antonio Missions (Lost 5-3 to Arkansas) (11-11 on the season) 

Jakob Marsee– (1-for-3) 2B, Run, K

Nathan Martorella– (1-for-3) 2B, 2 RBI, BB

Ripken Reyes– (1-for-3) 2 Runs, 2 BB, 2 K

Austin Krob– 4.2 IP, 7 H, 3 ER, 2 BB, 5 K (82 pitches- 51 strikes)

San Antonio lost on two late runs in the 8th inning. Yovanny Cruz was charged with the loss as the right-handed pitcher allowed two earned runs in 1.2 innings pitched. Austin Krob started the game and allowed three runs in 4.2 innings pitched. The 24-year-old lefty struck out five on the day and owns a 6.16 ERA so far this season. Reggie Lawson recorded a strikeout and threw five pitches on the day. Lawson is an interesting pitcher attempting to make his way back from taking a season off from the game of baseball.

The Mission trailed the whole game and only managed to toe it briefly in the top half of the 8th inning. Jakob Marsee and Nathan Martorella doubled in the game, and Ripken Reyes scored twice for the Missions. Robert Perez Jr. went 0-for-4 in the game and struck out three times.

Fort Wayne TinCaps (Lost 1-0 to Lake County) (8-13 on the season)

Kai Murphy– (1-for-3) BB

Ethan Salas– (1-for-4 ) 2 K

Emmanuel Pinales- 6 IP, 2 H, BB, 6 K (77 pitches- 51 strikes)

Francis Pena– 2 IP, BB, 2 K (28 pitches- 15 strikes)

The TinCaps pitching staff was excellent on Tuesday as the team took a shutout to the bottom of the 10th inning. Emmanuel Pinales started the game, and the 23-year-old continues to impress in the Midwest League. Pinales struck out six batters and went six scoreless innings on 77 pitches. He owns a 3.00 ERA and a 1.00 WHIP so far this season. Francis Pena has been equally as dominant this season as the 23-year-old owns a 0.87 ERA so far this year. Pena went two scoreless for the TinCaps on Tuesday and struck out two batters.

The hitters could not get anything done as the team recorded five hits in the game and three walks. Kai Murphy walked and went 1-for-3 in the loss. Ethan Salas struck out twice and singled in four trips to the plate. Homer Bush Jr. went 0-for-2 with a walk in the game.

Lake Elsinore Storm (Lost 5-4 to San Jose) (9-11 on the season)

Braedon Karpathios– (2-for-2) 2 Runs, RBI, 3 BB

Leodalis De Vries– (0-for-3) 2 BB, K

Jay Beshears– (1-for-4) Run, BB, 2 K

Fernando Sanchez– 2 IP, 5 H, ER, 5 K (54 pitches- 38 strikes)

The Storm lost a close one on the road in San Jose as the team’s late rally fell short. Braedon Karpathios doubled in the 9th to bring the game within one run with one out, but after a walk to Rosman Verdugo, the Storm went down quietly. J.D. Gonzalez grounded out to end the game. Leodalis De Vries went 0-for-3 in the game with two walks. Jay Beshears singled and scored a run in four trips to the plate.

Fernando Sanchez started the game but only managed to go two innings in the contest. Will Varmette and Xavier Ruiz relieved the pitcher and each went two innings. Ruiz was charged with the loss as he coughed up a run on the night.
