Yonathan Perlaza finished a perfect 2-for-2 with a double and two runs batted in. Perlazza drew three walks and scored once in the win. Tirso Ornelas finished with two singles in six at-bats, also driving in two runs. As a matter of fact, the entire Chihuahuas outfield finished with two hits each, as center fielder Clay Dungan finished 2-for-5 with an RBI double. Marcos Castanon finished with three hits and is now batting .440 with a 1.453 OPS in one week at Triple-A. Nate Mondou finished with three hits as well. El Paso went 8-for-21 with runners in scoring position, which would on any other day be an impressive figure, but the team entered the bottom of the sixth trailing 14-0, which says all it needs to say.
San Antonio Missions (Won 5-3 vs Springfield) (64-69 on the season)
Eguy Rosario – 2-for-4, Home Run
Albert Fabian – 2-for-5, RBI Single
Jared Kollar – 5 IP, 5 H, 1 R, 1 BB, 4 K (89 pitches – 55 strikes)
Jared Kollar’s five strong innings against a playoff-bound Springfield team led the Missions to a win on Wednesday. The right-hander went five innings, striking out four and recording eight of 15 outs via the ground ball or the strikeout. Kollar has pitched well in a starter’s role for the Missions, and in the second half, he has pitched to a 5.19 ERA after an 8.28 ERA in the first half. Cole Paplham pitched two innings of scoreless baseball, striking out one. Ryan Och struck out one in a quick eighth inning. Andrew Moore came on for the ninth but allowed two hits and a walk. Moore also threw two wild pitches, and two runs came in to score against him. With the tying run coming to the plate, Luke Montz called on Kevin Kopps for the final out. Kopps retired Jon Jon Gazdar on a grounder to short to end the game.
At the plate, Eguy Rosario launched a homer, his first with the Missions since 2021. Rosario finished with two hits and an RBI. Albert Fabian again led off for the Missions, finishing 2-for-5 with an RBI single. Romeo Sanabria had a sac fly for an RBI to give the Missions a 1-0 lead. Wyatt Hoffman doubled to score Ryan Jackson in the second. Damon Dues’ eighth-inning single scored Braedon Karpathios, who hit his first
