With that in mind, the following will serve as a space to keep track of all of theĀ rumors, interview requests, and hot takes America’s Finest CityĀ can handle as the Chargers comb through their list of candidates and look for a coach capable of finally leading them to the promised land of Super Bowl success.

This thread will be updated when new information takes place about the Chargers’ search.

Anthony Lynn – Interim Head Coach, Buffalo Bills

Latest Update: HiredĀ (1/13/17)

A journeyman running back during his playing days, the 48-year old Lynn transitioned into coaching as a special teams assistant with the Denver Broncos in 2000. He has since climbed the ladder, eventually finding a spotĀ as the Bills’ offensive coordinator in each of the last two seasons before being promoted to an interim head coaching role following the firing of Rex Ryan prior to Week 17 of the 2016 campaign. Over the years, Lynn has developed a well-respected reputation as an advocate of a “ground and pound” approach to Sundays, and from 2009-2015Ā his backfields ranĀ for a combined 15,588 yards, the most in the NFL during that span. As such, Lynn appears to be a good fit for San Diego given the organization’s combination of breakout running back Melvin Gordon and a young, up-and-coming defensive unit anchored around stud rookie Joey Bosa. After interviewing for a handful of coaching positions in the past, Lynn appears to be one of the favorites to land a job in 2017.
