San Diego FC will face Club América, Puebla FC, and Club Tijuana in the opening round of the Leagues Cup this August.

SDFC will begin its tournament run against Club América in Mexico City.

The match will be played at Estadio Banorte, though the exact date has not yet been announced.

The 2026 edition marks the first time the Leagues Cup will be hosted in both Mexico and the United States.

San Diego will then return home to face Club Tijuana at Snapdragon Stadium on Sunday, August 9.

SDFC will close out the first round on August 12 against Puebla FC.

Last year, San Diego FC struggled to advance past the opening stage of the tournament. The club faced Mazatlán FC, Tigres UANL, and Pachuca, managing just one victory—against Mazatlán.

The 2026 schedule, however, could offer a more favorable path.

Matchups with Tijuana and Puebla, along with an América side that started slowly this season in Liga MX, may provide San Diego with a strong opportunity to push into the next round.

Since the competition began, MLS clubs have been the only teams to claim the title.

This year, however, could shift the dynamic, as Liga MX sides playing as the home team may have the advantage.
