Tumi Moshobane placed on USL Championship Team of the Week
Moshobane earns his first Team of the Week honor of the 2022 season
Moshobane was a huge part of the 3-2 victory over El Paso Locomotive over the weekend. The midfielder helped the Loyal defeat one of the top teams in the USL Championship, despite El Paso going winless to start the 2022 season.
El Paso made the playoffs each of the last three seasons.
Moshobane scored a phenomenal goal in the victory against the Western Conference rivals. The South African blasted a one-timer past El Paso goalkeeper Evan Newton to give SD Loyal a 2-1 lead.

Evan Conway assisted on the play with a perfect pass leading to the Moshobane goal. Moshobane used his left foot and made the attempt look routine. It was one for the highlight reels as it was nominated for Goal of the Week as well. It was also Moshobane’s first goal of the 2022 USL Championship season that has SD Loyal off to a franchise-best 4-1 start with 12 points.
Moshobane led the Loyal in scoring last season with a total of 10 goals. It looks like this goal could jump-start the midfielder into another offensive attack this season.
Tumi Moshobane – Team of the Week
The speedy midfielder has started in all five matches this season, playing in 386 minutes, and has two assists. He was part of SD Loyal’s fluid attack in the first half of the match against El Paso as he ended the match with two shots and three chances created.
Last week, Alejandro Guido earned Team of the Week honors as he scored the game-winner in the win over Phoenix Rising FC. This now marks back-to-back-to-back weeks the Loyal have a player earn this honor. In the first week, keeper Koke Vegas earned the honor after helping San Diego start the season 2-0.
