The schedule for the upcoming Liga MX 2025 Apertura tournament was recently released.
The Tijuana Xolos will begin play on July 11 against their former sister club, Queretaro, at the Estadio Caliente at home.
Club Tijuana will have nine home games and eight away games in the upcoming season. Some of the notable home games for the Border City Dogs include hosting Chivas, Leon, Cruz Azul, Monterrey, and the 2025 Clausura Champions, Toluca.

Some of the notable away games include matches against Club América, Tigres UANL, and Pumas UNAM. Club America will be Xolos’ first road opponent of the season, in what is always a very tough visit.
While the start of the new season is still more than a month away, Tijuana’s preseason will start this Friday, June 6. The Xoloitzcuintles will face Monterrey, Atlético San Luis, Queretaro, Tepatitlan, and Leon ahead of the regular season.
These preseason games are important with new manager Sebastian Abreu at the helm. Abreu worked with this squad towards the latter half of last season, but there is still plenty of work to be done ahead of the 2025 Apertura.
Ahead of the preseason, Club Tijuana had already been doing a double dose of training sessions each day with Abreu.
There are still numerous rumors surrounding player arrivals and departures at Club Tijuana. One significant departure that was officially announced recently was Efrain Alvarez’s move to Chivas.
Alvarez was arguably Club Tijuana’s best player in the last few seasons, and the offense will certainly lose creativity going forward.
The transitional phase for this club started last season with Cirilo Saucedo at the helm. This was done with “Loco” Abreu working on the tactical side of the team in training sessions.
This can potentially make for a much smoother start to the new season. However, there will certainly still be a traditional phase with the changes to the roster.

Tijuana Xolos, San Diego FC, San Diego Wave. I have covered Liga MX, MLS, Mexico National Team, USWNT, Copa América and European clubs like Manchester United and Borussia Dortmund.
