SD Loyal SC and Oakland Roots SC finish in scoreless draw
The Loyal miss out on three crucial points, settle for one point in 0-0 draw.
The San Diego Loyal remains in second place in the Pacific Division with 34 points. Oakland remains in sixth place with 24 points.
The first half didn’t provide much action at all. Both sides couldn’t get into a rhythm or connect with a goal. The Loyal attempted a few shots near the keeper, but only two were on target.
Oakland keeper Paul Blanchette dove to save what would have been a goal off of the header from Augustine Williams.

The second half got a little heated between the two squads. There were a few fouls that eventually led to yellow cards being issued to both sides. Neither side lost their heads, and the match resumed respectfully.
In the 64th minute, Charlie Adams attempted a laser that was denied by Blanchette. Adams put all of his effort into the attempt, just missing the lead. San Diego controlled most of the possession as they usually do but couldn’t get a goal to win.
A scoreless game doesn’t give for much to talk about, but the Loyal gave it their all out there. Some nights just don’t go your way and tonight was an example of that.
The Loyal will face the Tacoma Defiance next Sunday, September 19, at 3 p.m. The match will be played in San Diego, and the Loyal will look to avoid their three-game skid to the Defiance.
