This Wednesday, July 16, San Diego FC announced a pair of roster moves for the defensive line. SDFC officially announced a loan deal with Eintracht Frankfurt for fullback Aiden Harangi.
The 19-year-old defender has not made his professional debut, only playing at the youth categories with Frankfurt. However, Harangi has also represented the USMNT at youth levels, including the U-20 level.

SDFC Sporting Director Tyler Heaps commented on the acquisition of the young player. “Aiden is another talented young defender with a good understanding of the game”, said Heaps.
The loan deal with the German club is for the remainder of the 2025 MLS season and will help with depth after Jasper Loffelsend’s departure.
Loffelsend and San Diego FC mutually decided to part ways, terminating his contract. The German fullback has officially signed with Polish team LKS Lods after receiving limited playing time in San Diego.

Loffelsend started as the primary right-back option to start the season, but soon fell out of favor with Mikey Varas. The 27-year-old defender played 12 total games with SDFC and started seven games.
Loffelsend provided one assist and scored no goals in his limited time with the Southern California team.
SDFC originally selected the German player from the Colorado Rapids in the 2025 MLS Expansion Draft. Loffelsend possessed versatile qualities, but there were numerous options at the fullback position on the squad.
With the addition of Harangi, San Diego also has Oscar Verhoeven, Luca Bombino, Willy Kumado, Hamady Diop, and Franco Negri as fullback options. Christopher McVey has also played as a fullback this season, as it is the position with arguably the most depth on the squad.
It will be interesting to see if SDFC stays busy in this transfer window, especially with the departure of Milan Iloski. San Diego will host Toronto FC at Snapdragon Stadium this Wednesday, July 16, and then play Vancouver Whitecaps at home on Saturday, July 19.
