San Diego Padres affiliates went 3-1 on Sunday.

Here is a recap of the day’s events.

El Paso Chihuahuas (Lost 5-1 to Las Vegas) (18-27 on the season)

Matthew Batten– (2-for-4) 2B

Eguy Rosario– (2-for-4) 3B, Run

Graham Pauley– (1-for-2) 2B, RBI, BB

Adam Mazur– 5 IP, 7 H, 5 ER, K (77 pitches- 47 strikes)

Hard-throwing right-handed pitcher Adam Mazur was knocked around for five earned runs in five innings pitched. Mazur will surely have better days, but pitching in Las Vegas is not an easy thing to do. The pitcher could not make it out of the sixth inning before giving way to Tom Cosgrove to get the three outs. Cosgrove threw a scoreless inning, and he needed that after struggling since his demotion to Triple-A.

The bats simply could not get anything going, as the Chihuahuas managed only six hits in the game. Matthew Batten was 2-f0r-4 with a double, and Eguy Rosario tripled and went 2-for-4 with a run scored. Graham Pauley chipped in with a double and a walk in the game. Newly signed outfielder David Perralt was 0-for-4 with two strikeouts.

San Antonio Missions (Won 3-1 over Corpus Christi) (18-19 on the season)

Michael De La Cruz– (1-for-3) Run, BB

Robert Perez Jr.- (1-for-3) BB, K

Robert Castanon- (2-for-4) 2 K

Austin Krob– 6 IP, 4 H, BB, 2 K (66 pitches- 42 strikes)

A pitcher’s duel broke out in San Antonio on Sunday. Lefty Austin Krob was solid, going six shutout innings and allowing just two hits in the game. The 24-year-old out of Texas Christian struck out two and lowered his ERA to 4.00 on the season. Jason Blanchard and Carter Loewen earned holds pitching out of the pen, and Josh Roberson earned his first save of the 2024 season.

The Missions did not do much with the bat, as the team recorded four hits in the game and walked only four times. A throwing error by the Hooks’ catcher issued two runs to the Mission, which was all they needed for the win. Marcos Castanon went 2-for-4 in the win, and Robert Perez Jr stayed hot, going 1-for-3. Fort Wayne TinCaps (Won 9-6 over South Bend in 10 innings) (17-22 on the season)

Griffin Doersching– (2-for-3) 2B, Run, BB, K

Albert Fabian- (1-for-5) HR, 4 RBI, Run, K

Jay Bershears- (1-for-3) Run, BB, K

Tyler Morgan– 3 IP, 2 H, 1 ER, 2 BB (42 pitches- 22 strikes)

A grand slam off the bat of Albert Fabian in the 10th innings was enough for the TinCaps in a 9-6 win over the Cubs. The TinCaps got out to an early 5-1 lead and held that for most of the game, but the Cubs battled back and tied the game in the top half of the seventh. The game headed to extras, where the Cubs scored in the top 10th, but Mitchel Tyranski gave up the big homer to Fabian with nobody out. Homer Bush Jr. walked twice and stole two bases in the win. Griffin Doersching doubled and recorded two hits in the game.

Tyler Morgan started the game and went three innings for Fort Wayne. Manuel Castro and David Morgan surrendered runs out of the pen for the TinCaps. Ryan Och was solid in relief as he threw two scoreless innings out of the pen late in the game. Ruben Galindo earned the save after getting all three outs in the top of the 10th.

Lake Elsinore Storm (Won 4-2 over Visalia) (19-18 on the season)

Alain Camou– (1-for-4) Run, RBI

Jacob Campbell– (1-for-4) 2B, Run, 2 K

Leodalis De Vries– (1-for-4) 2B, 3 K

Miguel Mendez– 2.2 IP, 2 H, 2 ER, 5 BB, 3 K (59 pitches- 30 strikes)

The Storm pulled off a win in Visalia on Sunday afternoon. Miguel Mendez started the game and was a bit wild, issuing five walks in 2.2 innings pitched. The right-handed pitcher did strike out three and allowed two earned runs. Johan Moreno was effective, going 2.1 innings without allowing a run to cross the plate. Thomas Balboni Jr. picked up the win as he pitched a scoreless inning in the game. Dwayne Matos earned a save as he threw the last two innings for Lake Elsinore.

Leodalis struck out three times in the game but did double for the Storm. The 17-year-old is struggling a bit to make consistent contact but is showing a promising bat. Alain Camou scored a run and went 1-for-4. Jacob Campbell doubled in four trips to the plate. Romeo Sanabria was 0-for-3 with a walk.
