San Diego Padres affiliates were 2-1 on Sunday.

El Paso Chihuahuas (Lost 4-0 to Sacramento) (6-9 on the season)

Nolan Watson– 1 IP, 1 H, 1 ER, BB (19 pitches- 13 strikes)

Daniel Camarena-3 IP, 4 H, 1 ER, 2 K (38 pitches- 30 strikes)

El Paso could not manage a run in Sunday’s loss to the Sacramento River Cats. The Chihuahuas earned seven hits in the game but were 0-for-7 with runners in scoring position. Graham Pauley singled twice in the game, and Clay Dungan continues to hit in the PCL, going 1-for-3 with a walk. Tirso Ornelas went 0-for-2 with a walk hitting out of the nine-hole for El Paso.

Nolan Watson started the game and last one inning, allowing a solo homer. Daniel Camarena, of grand slam off Max Scherzer fame, came in to relieve Watson, and Camerena pounded the zone, earning nine out for the Chihuahuas. The lefty gave up one earned run on the night and struck out two batters. Alek Jacob coughed up two runs in relief and owns an 8.10 ERA early in the year for El Paso.

San Antonio Missions (Win 2-1 over NW Arkansas) (6-3 on the season)

Cole Cummings– (1-for-4) 3B, Run, K

Victor Lizarraga– 2 IP, BB, 2 K (23 pitches- 15 strikes)

The Missions won a pitcher’s duel at home against Northwest Arkansas by the score of 2-1. Starting the game was 20-year-old Victor Lizarraga out of the South Bay in San Diego. The right-handed pitcher went the first two innings, only allowing a walk. Lizarraga struck out two in his 23 pitches. In relief, the Missions used multiple pitchers to secure the win. Bobby Milacki came in to relieve Lizarraga and went three innings, allowing the only run of the game. Yovanny Cruz and Carter Loewen threw three shutout innings, and Wo0-Suk Go earned his first save of the year with a 1-2-3 ninth inning.

Robert Perez Jr. doubled and singled in three at-bats, and Nathan Martorella earned two hits in three trips to the plate. Cole Cummings tripled in four at-bats, and that was it for the Missions in terms of offense. The five total hits were all the team needed to secure the win. Jakob Marsee went 0-for-3 with a walk and is hitting .118 on the year with a .589 OPS.

Fort Wayne TinCaps (Won 8-7 over Lake County) (4-4 on the season)

Tyler Robertson– (2-for-4) HR, 2 RBIs. Run.

Nik McClaughry– (2-for-4) 3B, 2 Runs, RBI

Manuel Castro– 2 IP (18 pitches- 12 strikes)

The TinCaps got a hard-earned win on Sunday, as the team fell behind 5-0 early but rallied late for the 8-7 win. Manuel Castro was the winning pitcher as the 21-year-old right-handed pitcher got the last six outs of the game in just 18 pitches. Braden Nett started the game and coughed up four runs in 1.1 innings pitched for the TinCaps. Jose Geraldo, Tyler Morgan, and Sam Whiting all gave up a run on the night for Fort Wayne, but Castro saved the team in the end.

Offensively, the TinCaps got a big night from outfielder Tyler Robertson, who went 2-for-4 with a homer and two RBIs. Devin Ortiz started the game and went 3-for-4 with two RBIs himself. Nik McClaughry also got two hits, one of them being a triple. Ethan Salas went 0-for-4 with a strikeout and is hitting .22 with a .582 OPS so far this year.
