Padres walk-off Rockies 1-0 behind Lamet’s stellar outing
Petco Park- San Diego, California
The San Diego Padres squeaked out a 1-0 win over the Colorado Rockies on a walk-off double by Jurickson Profar.
Dinelson Lamet and Kyle Freeland each twirled shutouts, but neither of them are the pitchers of record.

Slugging outfielder Jorge Oña also made his MLB debut in Monday’s game. He went 0-2 with a walk as the DH. Greg Garcia replaced him in the ninth inning as a pinch hitter.
After three straight starts of allowing multiple runs, Lamet is back in the conversation for the National League Cy Young Award. He is certainly not a front runner anymore, but can easily string together a couple of good starts down the stretch.

“The command of his slider tonight, he threw it for strikes, he threw it for strike-balls by getting guys to chase,” Manager Jayce Tingler said about Lamet after the game. “The fastball velo was great tonight. He’s such a tough matchup when he has that electric stuff.”
Eric Hosmer left the game following the first inning with a finger injury. He attempted to bunt a pitch with two strikes but failed to pull the bat back in time. Not only did he get hurt by the pitch, but he was also ruled out.
Tingler announced that the first baseman’s left index finger is fractured, and he will need to go on the injured list. Expect Mitch Moreland to see more playing time.
Although the San Diego Padres did not score until the ninth inning, they missed on several scoring opportunities.

Austin Nola stranded Manny Machado in the first, Machado and Mitch Moreland stranded Trent Grisham and Fernando Tatis Jr. in the third, Profar stranded Wil Myers and Oña in the fourth, Machado and Moreland stranded Tatis Jr. in the fifth. Machado lined into a double play with the bases loaded in the seventh. Nonetheless, the Padres were still victorious.
To start the ninth, Greg Garcia pinch hit for Jorge Oña with RHP Carlos Estevez on the mound. Garcia started the inning with a single to left field to set up Jurickson Profar. Jorge Mateo pinch ran for Garcia, and the replacement paid off.
After Profar fouled off two 0-2 pitches, he lined a ball down the right field line. The Rockies were shifted towards left field, which left Charlie Blackmon with a long run to get the ball. With Mateo’s blazing speed, he scored easily.
@FOXSportsSD had 9.64 seconds which is even faster. Either way that is INSANE
