Three San Diego Padres are going to Atlanta for the 2025 All-Star Game.
Played on July 14, the 2025 “Midsummer Classic” is an annual event that features Major League Baseball’s best players. Fans decide the starters for the game through a vote. Reserves are chosen by the managers of each league’s team.
It had already been announced that Manny Machado will start for the National League. The Padres’ third baseman was named a starter for the fourth time in his career. This will be his seventh All-Star Game appearance overall.
Reserves were announced on July 5. The Padres are also sending Fernando Tatis, Jr., and Jason Adam with Machado to Atlanta. Tatis is an All-Star for the third time. Jason Adam will make his first trip to the All-Star Game.

Machado has an .834 OPS and 134 wRC+ thus far. His 2.7 fWAR is third among all third basemen (Jose Ramirez and Matt Olsen – 3.1). From a career standpoint, Machado is closing in on 2,000 career hits. He sits at 1.998 as of July 6.
Tatis is having an up-and-down season. However, his 3.6 bWAR ranks fifth among NL outfielders, according to MLB writer AJ Cassavell. He has 15 home runs thus far and is one of six MLB players with 15 homers and 15 stolen bases.
Fernando Tatis Jr. is a three-time All-Star. An up-and-down first half, sure. But he’s one of six players in baseball with 15 homers and 15 steals. His 3.6 bWAR is fifth among NL outfielders.

Despite Tatis’ struggles, he has a 123 wRC+ as of July 6.
Adam receives his first All-Star Game selection
The Padres acquired Adam before the 2024 trade deadline. Since then, he has been a reliable reliever. In 2025, he has a 1.65 ERA and has made an MLB-best 43 appearances.
The 2025 MLB All-Star Game will be the league’s 95th Midsummer Classic. The Home Run Derby will precede it on July 13. Some participants have been announced, but the field has not yet been set.
The rest of the Padres team will catch a breather during the 4-day break. The season resumes on July 17.
