Evan Fitterer – 5.1 IP, 4 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 5 K (93 pitches – 56 strikes)
Jase Bowen launched his 12th home run of the season, a 425-foot blast to center field. Bowen scored three runs in the game and drove in just as many. Marcos Castanon, who entered as a defensive replacement for Clay Duncan in the third inning, drove in three runs with a double and a single. Nick Solak hit a two-run home run in the game, and Anthony Vilar hit his first home run at the Chihuahuas’ home park in the win.

Evan Fitterer threw yet another scoreless start, as he pitched 5.1 innings. The right-hander struck out five batters in the game, walking just two. Fitterer has pitched well at Southwest University Park, as he has thrown 19.1 innings with a 2.79 ERA. Garrett Hawkins threw 1.2 innings of scoreless relief, as he averaged 94.2 mph on his fastball with 17 inches of iVB at the El Paso elevation. While Hawkins’ command continues to be a concern, he has been able to work his way around it more often than not. Justin Yeager allowed three runs in two innings of relief, albeit with a double-digit run cushion.
San Antonio Missions (Won 7-6 vs Frisco) (17-26 on the season)
Tirso Ornelas – 4-for-5, Double, Three Singles, RBI
Ryan Jackson – 3-for-5, Three Singles, Two Runs Scored
Victor Lizarraga – 6 IP, 7 H, 1 R, 1 BB, 5 K (96 pitches – 66 strikes)
Right-hander Victor Lizarraga continued his bounce-back month, as he pitched a quality start. The San Diego-born right-hander threw six innings of one-run baseball, striking out five batters. Lizarraga allowed seven hits, but was able to limit the damage to one run as he induced five groundouts, including a double play. Lizarraga has pitched to a 1.35 ERA, 1.15 WHIP, and 16 strikeouts in 20 innings.
San Antonio’s lineup picked up 15 hits en route to a one-run victory. Carson Tucker reached base twice, driving in two runs while playing both center field and second base. It was Tucker’s first game in center field this season. Ethan Salas hit a single in five at-bats, and Romeo Sanabria scored two runs as the team’s DH. Tirso Ornelas hit four singles and drove in a run. Albert Fabian hit two singles as well, driving in two runs. Ryan Jackson hit three singles of his own, scoring two runs and raising his batting average to .252. Francisco Acuna hit his second home run in the second inning, reaching base three times.

Andrew Moore issued four walks in one-third of an inning, striking out just one. Moore was charged with three runs, with two bequeathed runners scoring against Sadrac Franco. Franco blew the save but picked up the win with 1.2 scoreless innings. Andrew Dalquist allowed two runs on a two-run home run, but closed out the win, picking up his first save of the season.

Kash Mayfield – 5 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 8 K (78 pitches – 45 strikes)
Left-hander Kash Mayfield made yet another scoreless start, striking out eight batters. Mayfield has not allowed an earned run in his last 15 innings, with 20 strikeouts and just four hits allowed. The left-hander picked up 14 swings and misses on 45 strikes, and was aided by a strike-‘em-out, throw-‘em-out double play in the third inning. Isaiah Lowe threw two scoreless innings, bouncing back from a tough outing on May 19. CJ Widger allowed two runs in one-third of an inning, walking three and allowing one hit. One bequeathed runner scored against Will Varmette. The right-hander pitched 1.2 scoreless innings in relief, using his 95-97 mph fastball to pick up two strikeouts and ultimately, the win. The TinCaps lineup had four hits all game, but came through in the ninth inning. Carlos E. Rodriguez hit a second-inning single, the team’s first hit of the game. Alex McCoy hit a single in the ninth inning, and with one out, Rodriguez reached base on a fielding error. With Kasen Wells taking over on first base, Jack Costello turned on a middle-middle fastball out to the Home Run Porch in left field. His three-run home run walked off the Dragons, and tied the series at two games apiece.

Lake Elsinore Storm (Lost 8-6 vs Visalia) (24-19 on the season)
Dylan Grego – 2-for-4, Two-Run Home Run
Conner Westenburg – 1-for-4, Double, Two RBI
Kruz Schoolcraft – 3.1 IP, 2 H, 3 R, 2 BB, 5 K (66 pitches – 40 strikes)
Left-hander Kruz Schoolcraft pitched into the fourth inning, allowing three runs. Schoolcraft limited the Rawhide to just two hits, and Visalia only mustered four baserunners against the 2025 first-rounder. The left-hander struck out five batters, matching a season-high. May has been a better indicator of Schoolcraft’s performance this season, as when he got his feet on the ground, he has pitched at least three innings in each of his past six starts. Schoolcraft also has a 3.95 ERA in four starts this month.
Dylan Grego hit a two-run home run in the second inning to put the Storm on the board. Grego picked up his first two hits back with Lake Elsinore in the game. Ryan Wideman hit two singles and stole two bases as the leadoff man. Kerrington Cross reached base four times, drawing three walks and doubling. Yoiber Ocopio singled to drive in a run, and Conner Westenburg hit a two-run double to extend the Storm’s lead to 5-0.
Rordy Mejia allowed three runs in 1.2 innings of relief, with two home runs hit against him. Nick Falter continued his dominant season, as he pitched three scoreless innings with four strikeouts. Falter now has pitched 29.2 innings, striking out 30 batters. The right-hander out of Denison University has a 1.52 ERA and 0.91 WHIP in that span. Vicarte Domingo allowed a walk-off two-run home run, his first time allowing an earned run since May 3.

ACL Padres (Lost 7-3 vs ACL Dodgers) (7-8 on the season)
Jesmaylin Arias – 1-for-4, Double, Run Scored

Dalvi Nunez – 2 IP, 5 H, 4 R (3 ER), 2 BB. 0 K
The ACL Dodgers pounced on Padres starting pitcher Dalvi Nunez, who recorded just six outs. Nunez was charged with four runs on five hits, failing to record a strikeout. The right-hander, making the stateside jump from the Dominican Summer League, has struggled in his first six games, posting a 9.72 ERA and a WHIP of 2.52. Ryan Och made his second rehab appearance, striking out two. Och did allow a three-run home run to Moises Bolívar, the first runs he’s allowed this year. Dariel Polanco pitched three scoreless innings in long relief, picking up four of nine outs via the ground ball. Jordan Valenzuela struck out two batters in a scoreless seventh, lowering his season ERA to 1.69.
The Padres’ lineup was held scoreless through five innings, finally breaking through in the sixth. Alcides Hernandez scored the Padres’ first run on a groundout off Fabian Alcantara’s bat. After a double from Jesmaylin Arias, Santiago Vargas hit an RBI single. Vargas came around to score on a single by Luis De Leon, but that would be all the scoring for the Padres. Hernandez and Jhojan Downer each drew two walks in the loss.
