Padres Down on the Farm: May 19 (Logan Allen returns to El Paso/Amarillo wins big)
Thanks to Mother Nature, both the Lake Elsinore Storm and Fort Wayne TinCaps were unable to play on Sunday.
The other two teams in the affiliate, the El Paso Chihuahuas and Amarillo Sod Poodles, went 1-1.
Here is a quick recap of the day’s events.
El Paso Chihuahuas Lost 5-4 (28-15 on the season)
Logan Allen returned to the mound for the first time since May 11 and had a fine start, cruising through four scoreless innings until allowing a run in the bottom of the fifth inning. The run came off a solo home run from Dom Nunez and was the only one he allowed in five innings, striking out five and walking three. El Paso took the lead in the fifth inning when Jason Vosler led the inning off with a solo home run. Two batters later, Jacob Scavuzzo crushed a two-run shot to center field hit, good for his eleventh home run of the season. Seth Mejias-Breen extended the lead to 4-1 with a solo shot of his own.
The Chihuahuas looked to be headed for a win, but a victory was not in the cards. The Isotopes jumped on Luis Perdomo for four eighth-inning runs on five hits. A pinch-hit, two-run home run by Drew Weeks pushed the Isotopes, and El Paso couldn’t rally to a victory in the ninth inning.

The Soddies started the scoring in the first inning with three runs in the first inning, including a two-run single from Webster Rivas. Owen Miller extended the lead to 4-0 with his RBI double that scored Edward Olivares. Frisco got two runs off of Jesse Scholtens in the fifth inning thanks to a sacrifice fly and an RBI single from Josh Altmann, who made the score 4-2.
Both teams traded runs in the seventh inning, with Hudson Potts collecting a two-run double in the top half of the inning and three runs scored via RBI singles from Altmann and Michael De Leon. Two of the three runners were credited to Scholtens as reliever Kyle Lloyd allowed two inherited runs to cross the plate. Scholtens pitched six innings and struck out four while allowing four runs to score. Amarillo picked up insurance runs in the ninth inning on an RBI single from Olivares and a three-run bomb from Kyle Overstreet.
